I'm not having much luck with my new SPV E200...

I upgraded my account last Thursday, recieved the phone, and was generally pleased with it!

The problems then began...

First off it would have trouble reading the SD Card which came with the phone, and eventually wouldn't even want to know. The card worked fine in my USB Card Reader, but the SPV just didnt even see it, and also started having problems with the 5 key, as I had to press it quite hard for it to work. So on Saturday 22nd of May, I rang orange & arranged a replacement SPV for Sunday.

Sunday comes... New SPV Arrives! Seems to be working fine, no hastles with the SD Card, 5 key, even the Bluetooth when using a hands-free kit didn't crackle! Great!

Come Sunday night... I made a call to a friend... The person on the other end could hardly hear me! I thought first of all it might be there mobile, so I rang there house phone. Nope, I'm still 'whispering' to them. Bugger! So I went through all the settings on the phone, checked all the volumes, everything seemed fine! Rang up a few other people, even got my mum to ring my house phone & speak to me through the SPV (her with SPV, me with house-phone) The volume on the house phone was set to MAX & even though I was in another room, I could here her louder through the walls than over the phone! So not impressed! By this time though, it was too late to ring orange & ask for yet ANOTHER replacement!

So now its monday, I've done a hard-reset of the phone, and tried calling the work phone, but still very quiet. Rang up orange, literally SHOUTING down the phone so the lady on the other end could here me & even then she said it was very quiet! So another handset is on its way to me now which I should recieve tomorrow. Hopefully 3rd time lucky!

If the 3rd handset goes wrong though before Thursday, I'll be returning the SPV & cancelling the Upgrade...

Are they all this bad, or am I just getting the bad ones??

Will keep posted with the new one!

There does seem to be a bad batch right now.

My keypad is dodgy but I don't want to send it back to Orange because I'd expect a worse replacement :evil:

If I was you I'd complain and perhaps ask them to check it before sending you a new one out. :roll:

Here's my tale of woe;

I've had my E200 since it was released, it had a few niggles but I was generally happy with it. Then I installed the upgrade. Big mistake!. My bluetooth headset is now unusable as the e200 is causing the headset to switch off mid call ( this is well documented in other threads ). After weeks of bugging orange about it and getting nowhere fast my joystick stopped working ( 3 - 4 weeks ago now! ). I rang orange who said I had to contact onestopphoneshop as this is where I got it from. They put me onto another company ( I think their name was TRS ) who do their repairs. TRS said they'd send me a jiffy bag. One week later nothing had arrived so I rang them again and again they promised to send a jiffy bag. One week later still nothing so I rang orange and told them my story so far. They gave me the number for HTC. I rang them and they said they'd send me a jiffy bag. It took a week to come. The phone was packaged up and collected that day by ANC courier. It's now Monday, 1 week after sending so I rang HTC to see how my phone was doing. They said they hadn't received it and I had better ring the courier to see what had happened to it. At the moment they can't find it :x . I told the woman I was now getting very angry, and that she wouldn't like me when I'm angry :x .

Anyway, I actually hope they have lost it for good. This phone is obviously jinxed. Don't know where I stand with regard to getting a replacement, not sure if the courier service is insured or not as HTC arranged it, not me. I supposed either HTC or ANC will have to replace it if it doesn't turn up.

i've had about 5 different e200's now, very unimpressed :) various issues, ranging from huge dead pixel bits on screen to huge dead pixel bits on camera to ones waht arrive and wont even turn on ! :lol:

i dont like e200, in general, fairly dissappointed

Well the 'replacement' arrived today from orange, if you could call it that! They sent out an Original SPV, NOT the E200 :evil: so I was straight on the phone SHOUTING again so they could hear me, they said sorry & would send another out tomorrow to me :x

I want to write a letter, I'm not impressed at all with this, so where do I address it to? or do they just file all letters under B for Bin

Well, new phone arrived today, with ROM version 1.1.1.4 :roll:

so now running the update to get it all up to date & will then see how it goes...

how so?

its all done now without a prob, workin a bit faster too! Seems ok, call volume isnt quiet no more & can be heard ok now!

Gona give it a bit of testing though just make sure its all ok - so far so good...

My e200 arrived yesterday

its good, apart from the normal "WHAT, I CAN'T HEAR YOU" problem and the dead pixel

i should have the DP issue sorted after a few "can i speak to your supervisor" and "it was broken out of the box, and no im not sending everything back and waiting for you to send me a new phone, send me a gawd darn phone first, and NO im not spending £15 on an orangecare replacement"

heh, i've given up trying to get a working e200, i'll jsut keep the one i've got - better with a broken one i can stand than a broken one i cant - thats how i justify it :).

i'll get on the phone to them shortly tho, and tell em what i really think once my contracts up (and my upgrade is due :lol:)
