Guest Colonel Trouble Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 My bloody new mpx seems to be stuck on the hellomoto screen .. maybe its because theres no sim in it :)  Any ideas ?!? Is this a common thing ?! Because I'm going nuts here  :D
Guest shaggyguitarist Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 happened to me...it would only power off by removing the battery. I had to send mine off to motorolla to fix it, but a hard reset may work. I didnt know about resetting until i found this forum, if a reset works then thats saved you bein without your phone for a few days
Guest Colonel Trouble Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 im doing a hard reset just now ... I accidentally figured out how to do it :)
Guest Sasuke Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 i dont think the reason is because you dont have a sim card. i just tried to turn my MPx200 on without the sim card and it booted up fine. good luck with the hard reset. :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Look on the good side, a hard reset gets the initial junk off the phone and now any of the preinstalled apps you really want (if there is any) can be found on the cd that came with the phone. Now you can install them to the storage card instead of clogging un the phone. The only app (if you are in the UK) is the jmms app thia has to be installed to the phone if you want to use mms, if you install it to the storage card you will get problems with your Inbox not working.
Guest Ange Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 I've had the same (or similar) problem on 2 phones. The first used to get stuck on the Hellomoto screen. I had not heard about the Hard Reset option at that time so took it back and got a new one. This one would simply refuse to turn on when I got it - I performed a hard reset after reading about it on this forum which helped but it still refuses to turn on every few days - removing the battery for a few seconds seems to work until it happens the next time. Is there any point in me taking this phone back and getting a third or is this something that happens to all MPX200's? It feels like more than bad luck that I have had the same problem with 2 phones!!!!!! Apart from this very annoying little quirk I love the phone! :)
Guest Sasuke Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 i guess you must be very unlucky with your phones. i've never had that problem before on my phone. the only time it gets to the hellomoto screen and turns off for me is when i have very low battery on my phone.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Yep same here had my phone for over six months now and not a single problem except the sim holder, but that's a design fault. So even with my ripping the phone apart it's still working well :)
Guest Colonel Trouble Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Well the hard reset did work ! :) Just took a while ! And whatsmore , something better I discovered .. My buttons are backlit !!! A nice blue light
Guest phonesmarts Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 yup, they are. a nice light that i could not see before a Hard Reset! but it shows the backlight is pretty strong. i could see it clearly in the dark :)
