Guest Blakey Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Should you install stuff onto your phone or SD card? I have a 512Mb SD card so I've got bucket loads of space for apps and data, but I'm wondering about speed issues and such for installing all my apps to the SD card. So far I have only installed about three apps, so I can easily uninstall and start again. I have installed all these three on the ROM so far. Is this a good idea? Most importantly, what is the reason I should do one or the other? Thanks all Blakey
Guest Brody Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Games installed on my SD card run just fine, keep your phone's memory as clear from non-essential apps as possible so as to keep the phone's speed up!
Guest Blakey Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Even if all the apps are on the SD card - won't it be slower accessing them? And if that's all you're using, then isn't the speed of the phone going to effectively be slower? :-)
Guest Disco Stu Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 You need to keep as much spare ROM space as possible, otherwise the phone will become unstable and crash. The only things you might want on the phone itself are Smart Explorer, Xbar, SD card on/off switch, SurrealStart ; ie basic Smartphone functions only. There won't be any speed issues.

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 Here you go and Welcome ot the site :) http://xetranet.free.fr/xbar2/?lang=eng&project=xBar%202
Guest Confucious Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 I can't resist :) Installing to ROM would be somewhat difficult as ROM stands for Read Only Memory - perhaps you were talking about RAM? (Random Access Memory) xbar is a great app which I certainly used on a smartphone - but it's worth reading theb documentation as it has some very useful features that aren't obvious (this coming from someone that never RTFMs) HTH
