Guest jimbouk Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Tonight I am due to receive my fourth e200 from orange. All the previous ones switch my plantronics m3000 headset off mid-call since the ROM update. I have had three m3000 headsets and tried all of them with my wife's moto V500 and they all work fine but when I try to use them with the e200 they pair ok, they never work when first switched on (no sound) but then work ok until suddenly they power off the headset mid-call with no warning. Orange tried to tell me that the phone could not switch the headset off, but asked me clear the memory. I did so and then took an hour re-syncing data onto phone and guess what - it switched the headset off!!!! Am I the only one suffering from this post upgrade problem?
Guest ajb3000 Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Nope, it is a problem and there is no fix, no matter how many times you replace the headset or phone. On mine it only sometimes switches off, and if it does it will be within the first 2 minutes of the call, I presume yours is the same?
Guest blewer Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 The only fix would be to get the original ROM, but orange don't want to play :) My headset will not pick up incoming calls at all
Guest jscotl Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 I've just got off the fone with Plantronics :!: They are now acknowledging that there is an issue with the E200 & that their engineers are working with Orange to resolve :x Tried speaking to Orange Cust Svc...Suggested I call their data dept on 156....finally got through the press 1 for blah.. Initially, suggesting I return to the Orange retail shop & try other headsets  Great, eh? You buy the BT headset you want.... It used to work Pre-ROM Update. Now it's "get another one" (at my cost) .... ....Or wait for the next ROM Update - with no guarantees that the issue will resolve  Eventually, got to speak with their 2nd level support - who had never heard of this issue !!!! They wanted to deleted the pairing & the pair the devices again but I've done that previously without resolution  The issue is now logged & I await the technical depts response, I'm not holding my breath....But will update this thread with their response  Wouldn't it be great for Orange (& other providers) to actively review these postings of their customers issues :?:
Guest blewer Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 jscotl, You've had the same conversation with Orange as I did. They will get back to you soon saying that they are working on it but there is nothing at present you can do to resolve it. I think that people should be given the choice to downgrade (upgrade) to the original ROM until the next update.
Guest jimbouk Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 (after four e200's and 3 m3000's - i've spent the last two days talking to OCS data support level 2. They promised to send me a new phone that had the rom update done at the factory (rather than requiring me to do it at home) as this was the recommended fix!!!. The phone arrived and guess what....no rom update - so I did it and now i am back where I started. Data Support admitted that they could not resolve this and that they did not now recommend any bt headsets for the e200 and that they did not support bt headsets (as it is a data medium not a voice channel) and then admitted that they do not support bt over activesync!!!!!!!! Anyway after nearly two hours they are creditting the full cost of M3000 so i can buy a jabra that they "reckon" might work - although they recommend that i leave my phone at the shop for an hour so they can test it! I have not spoken to 4 level 2 people who all denied that they had ever heard of this problem before!!!!
Guest Jazz_UK Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 Anyway after nearly two hours they are creditting the full cost of M3000 so i can buy a jabra that they "reckon" might work - although they recommend that i leave my phone at the shop for an hour so they can test it! I have had the same problems, although thought it was just the battery on the M3000 getting low. Is there anyway for me to get a credit without going through the same hassles - did you get a log number for your phonecall that I could quote? How are they crediting you? do you have to return the headset to the shop? How much is the jabra and does anyone use it with an upgraded phone who can vouch that it works? Thanks Jazz
Guest jimbouk Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 i can't help you other than to advise that orange only agreed to the credit as orange retail recommended the m3000 as good for the e200. The credit is going straight onto my account. I think that they were maybe swayed as i spend £750 a month with them! I have now bought a jabra bt 250 and it works fine - if you pay for the 250 you get good battery life and good bt performance (well as good as the e200 can manage anyway). The jabra is more comfortable (lighter and sits behind ear rather than hangs off the front like the m3000). Good luck with ocs.
Guest egghead101 Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 This is so annoying because the two things i wanted from the update i didn't get Multiple Email synchronisng and stable bluetooth. Ok I get a better battery life but if I can't use the phone in the car whilst driving what is the point. :x :x :x
