Guest drblow Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 Jeez! Every time I start me PC/log into messenger, it fails to log in, tells me I have been signed out because I signed in at another location, then logs me in. It is p**sing me right off! Its the latest version (6.2 I think). Whatever it is, I formatted my PC about a week ago & DL'ed it after that, so its new. & sometimes when people message me, it opens up in the old default windows messenger - the crap one where you can't see any pictures! :) Somebody help me! I've been through all the settings everywhere & I can't fix it!? :x
Guest Vector Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 You need to remove Windows Messenger... Here ya go :) http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_messeng...nger_remove.htm
Guest ormstont Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 I've had this problem before...I take it you're using XP? It installs the default windows messenger and it autostarts with windows as well as msn messenger. They both use the same passport settings though so they each try and log you on and fight with each other. The way I've got it fixed is to use my zonealarm firewall to block internet access to windows messenger. If you just want to get rid of windows messenger (NOT msn messenger) Tweak XP.com has a good guide at http://www.tweakxp.com/display.aspx?id=487. Hope this helps!
Guest Brody Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 Click Start>Run then type gpedit.msc. Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Windows Messenger then enable both entries on the right! :)
