Guest gmail Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 Have been browsing through here for a while and haven't seen this specifically posted, so I thought I'd chuck it in for any prospective SPV E200 owners... Orange shops are offering the SPV E200 for free on the £25 per month contract (120 mins). You can downgrade after three months to a cheaper tariff if need be (I think the cheapest is £15 per month). Plus, the Orange store has two deals going at the moment: - bring in an old handset, any condition (as long as it turns on and vaguely works), and they'll add £50 credit to your orange bills. They don't want the charger or the manual or anything, just the phone - get a friend on orange to recommend you, and you'll get £50 credit and they'll get £25. They're quite happy with this being a relative (in my case, my wife!). So... at absolute cheapest, that's £210 for line rental over a year (3*25, 9*15) minus £125 call credit = £85. And of course, at the end of your 12 month contract, you can sell the phone (for what? £150 or so on ebay?) and get yourself a nice new C500 or whatever the latest model will be then (so long as you don't mind changing numbers). So you end up with a free year of phone calls and a free year of using the E200. This is by far the best deal I've seen on the E200; it's way lower than anything I could find online. But be warned: they go fast whenever the local store gets them in. About to get mine tomorrow after waiting a week for them to come in. Plus, I have heard rumours that Orange will not let you downgrade after three months after the end of May (it will be a minimum of six months)...
Guest chucky.egg Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 Brand new E200s are changing hands on eBay for £165 - £195 now. A 12 month old one will probably only fetch £50 - £75 IMO
Guest Brody Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 50-75 quid!? Seems a little low if u ask me!
Guest gmail Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 Brand new E200s are changing hands on eBay for £165 - £195 now. A 12 month old one will probably only fetch £50 - £75 IMO That does seem low. I've got a Siemens S55 (not the fancy SL55 that slides out, the more basic model). It's 12 months old, got a camera, in its box - and similar models are going for £80-£100 on ebay. So a 12 month old S200 should go for quite a bit more than that...
Guest squall Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 A used e200 will fetch £185 on ebay. Occasionally they go for over £200.
Guest gmail Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Just picked up my E200 and the deal is actually even BETTER than I described above. In addition to what I originally listed, they give: - free Bluetooth headset (£50 in-store) - double minutes for the first three months (240 instead of 120) - one month free GPRS (up to 3MB) The Orange guy was like 'We just keep giving and giving, don't we?' I don't know why Orange aren't advertising this deal any more... I know the phones are in short supply, but the shop said they were flying out, and I'm not surprised. Right then, one good day or charging and then it's Smartphone fun for me!
Guest FATGOONER Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Wait until your phone starts to play up. The orange man will stop caring!
Guest elhornet Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 I got much the same deal recently but paid £10 for 7 meg GPRS bundle. UK has to be the most expensive country in the world for GPRS, I guess I'll wait until I get the first bill and see how my useage is. I was going to buy one on Ebay, you could get a E100 for £75ish, E200's were all £150+. I'd much prefer an insured one on a plan thanks!
