Guest shiwlof Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Ok, I am considering hard resetting my phone in the attempt of of freeing up more of my IPSM space. Currently I am sitting with 180kb free. Most of my newer apps are installed on my SD card. I am planning of running as much as I can from the SD card. Now a question. After a hard reset, what will be on the phone? Applications I mean. Inbox, Calender and other core components will remain on the phone? Will the Hard Reset MSN Messenger? As I am not using it at all. My contacts I could save to my sim card before the reset, SMS', MMS' I can lose, not too worried about them. And I suppose I could sync it with Outlook and then sync it back when I'm done.
Guest Vector Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Hard Reset puts the phone back to the out-of-the-box-state  So the phone will be exactly as it was when you bought it... You can sync all contacts, appointments etc. with outlook and then sync them back after you have hard reset, that's what i usually do :)
Guest shiwlof Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 So how much IPSM space could I be looking at after the reset? And again I pose the option can you remove some of the core components? MSN messenger being one.
Guest Vector Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 No you cannot remove MSN messenger... Not sure how much space you should have as i don't have an MPx200 but should be in the region of 5mb to 10mb :)
Guest shiwlof Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 Ok, I have done the Hard Reset. Sitting with 7mb free on my IPSM. This I am happy about. Just a few minor issues... I think. IA Photo is gone, and no default File Manager. File Manager I'm not worried about, as I have installed Smart Exporer. Can I get hold of the default image viewer still? Or should I go for a aftermarket one now? I will sync my contacts when I get home from work, as they are all in my Outlook there. But overwise all seems fine. Installed my normal homescreen, Jeyo Personalizer and Smart Explorer. So any ideas?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 Fortunately a hard reset on the mpx200 does not take it back to the way it was when you first bought it, as you have found out it removes all the pre-installed apps. The good news is that all the apps you want are on the cd that came with the phone and you can now install them to the storage card to save space on the phone :) Just remember if you want MMS working you have to install the jmms app onto the phone and not the storage card otherwise your Inbox will not work correctly.
Guest shiwlof Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Ok, just to update everyone. Got all my apps back on, and my phone is running like a dream. battery life also increased, or so it would seem. I have now free: MEMORY RAM: 17.1/28.4MB Program: 6.1/17.8MB Storage: 10.2/10.6MB Flash Storage Internal(IPSM): 5.5/11.0MB SD Card: 47.1/59.5MB So all is very cool now. Now must just sync with Outlook and get all my contacts and calender notes back. So from I have learnt, Hard Reset really does rock. Next thing I doing is getting a 256MB SD card, using the phone to move data from work to home. Plus any downloaded data. Works very well for this.
