Guest PTDave Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Hi all, Version 1.2 of our VNC client for the Smartphone - PTvncS - is now available from Handango and will soon be available from PocketGear. New features include: 1. Now compatible with VNC servers that do not support server scaling eg. "Real"VNC, TightVNC etc. in addition to those that do such as Ultr@VNC or PTeSVNC(supplied). Users of Macs, Unix, Linux and other non-MS systems should now be able to find a compatible VNC server to use with PTvncS. 2. Internal screen buffer size increased to 1280 KiloPixels, allowing viewing of server screens up to say 1280*1024 without server scaling and viewing of a 1600*1200 server screen at up to 800*600 with server scaling. 3. Connection options (eg. encodings, scaling etc.) can now be set before connection is made. 4. Use of server scaling now has a third option - "Highest Quality". 5. Cursor handling improved to allow for the way versions of "Real"VNC handle the cursor. 6. "Solid black box cursor" problem fixed (for when using certain PC video cards/drivers in certain resolutions). 7. When choosing to connect using a local connection (Bluetooth/WiFi) rather than a remote one (eg. GPRS) then version 1.2 automatically closes any such remote connection so that the local connection will be used. 8. "Zoom" mode modified so that when viewing without any server-scaling enabling the Zoom will Zoom out instead of in allowing you to see a larger area of your server screen. 9. Version 1.2 is compatible with server screens in portrait mode ie. 480*640 etc. 10. Password entry improved so you are less likely to make errors. Enjoy... bye David Makin (Parys Technografx) http://www.parystec.demon.co.uk/
Guest Lifestream Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Is it a free upgrade for those who got 1.0?
Guest Maverick Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Do u mind providing a direct link from your site to the product page in Handango !! U dont expect us to search for it .. Do u?? ;-)
Guest PTDave Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Updates to PTvncS (and PTvncGPRS) are uploaded as the same product as far as Handango and PocketGear are concerned, so when the update appears where you bought it you should simply be able to re-download without "buying" - for exact details contact Handango or PocketGear appropriately. Here's the link to the version on Handango (now v1.2): http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDet...0&txtSearch=vnc Here's the link to the version on PocketGear (should be updated to 1.2 shortly): http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=13499 Hopefully both links will work OK, if not then just search on the relevant site for "vnc" :-)
Guest djboo Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 ever since i got this version, ive been unable to connect to any vnc server. also it doesnt support the orange keyboard. not super happy - if anyone still has the old version, can they send it to me pls.
Guest schriss Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 There is no option to use GDI instead og GAPI, so does not work on Mio8390  EDIT: Since GAPI has been fixed, it works on my Mio8390. It looks promising and the scaling option is the best feature of this VNC client!!! I have set my server to scale the window down 2x, and with JPEG compression that works pretty good over GPRS, much faster than two free java VNC clients I tried!!! I will post a short review soon :)
Guest PTDave Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 djboo please mail us at [email protected] and we'll sort out your problem with version 1.2 There's absolutely no reason why it shouldn't work -- unless you're trying to connect to versions of "Real"VNC or TightVNC and are not switching off server scaling on the password entry screen - these VNC servers (Real/Tight) do not support server scaling and connection will fail if you don't switch to the "No scaling" option first.
Guest djboo Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 emailed :D just so everyone else knows, i was trying two servers, 1 was tightvnc and the other ptvncs server. the ptvncs server keeps crashing and tight vnc needed the different scaling option.
Guest TigerNet Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 ...confused...cannot seem to get this working...could someone post a step by step 'idiots' guide so I can check what I am doing wrong... Thanks Nick
Guest nedge2k Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 you may need to enable loopback connection and in the case of connecting via bt you may need to connect to async via bt and set data connections to pass throu :D great app btw! :D
