when i use internet explorer on my cell, i am viewing port 80 sites (http)... but if there is a site that is on a different port, like 88 or 8080, it won't load on the cell phone. it loads fine on my pc in internet explorer, but my phone just cant seem to view non-80 ports...

does anyone know the list of ports that the smartphone CAN view?

There might be some limit on a smartphone but I've never seen one documented. I'd guess it's more likely your carrier. T-Mobile, for example, has a free data service but it only allows 4 or 5 ports, if even that many anymore. If you get the real data service from them, however, there's no limit that I'm aware of or have ever seen. Check with your carrier.

I'm pretty sure you'll find its a carrier limitation rather than a Smartphone one...

By any chance do you know which ports t-mobile allows for their wap service? Obviously port 80, and I haven't tried 443, but does anyone know any others? 88? 8080?

Yeah a list of payandgo/free gprs ports that are used would be great as im on O2 and can never get msmessenger/agile/irc/streaming to work! If developers knew this info maybe they could incorporate it into their progs
