Having real problems uninstalling programs...

I've got a MPx200 which I sim-unlocked from Orange and have run alphaflux's decert app. I'm totally new to Smartphones (but am learning quickly thanks to this excellent site :) )...

I'm trying to remove a bunch of apps that I installed to the phone instead of SD  but am really struggling.

I've searched this site thoroghly, but haven't found anyone else having the same probs, which makes me think I must be doing something so blindingly stupid....

 If I try and uninstall the app through settings -> remove programs I get the error " could not be removed from your phone".

 If I try and uninstall through ActiveSync, I untick the box next to the program, click OK, and the window closes. If I go back to Add/Remove programs, the program still has a tick next to it (ie is still installed?)

 A lot of posts I've seen suggest installing the problem app again, and then uninstalling. If I try this I get "The previous verson of will be removed before the new one is installed.". If I OK this, I get the message "Unable to remove the previous version of . Do you want to continue installing ", which if I answer yes and opt to install it on Phone (which is where it is at the moment), I get the error "Unable to install at this location". Having gone through this rigmarole, the program is finally removed from my phone.

Am I doing something really stupid? I've not tried to delete these apps by deleting the files manually; so far as I'm aware I've just installed them, used them a few times, then tried to remove them. I've made sure none of the apps are running in the background when I'm trying to uninstall them.

[edit] Despite the app disappearing from my list of programs to uninstall, the app still exists in program files, eg.

IPSMProgram FilesPocketMusic has several hundred k of files in it. Can I just delete these? :? [edit]

Ta, Robin.

Welcome to the site! :)

hmm, think your only option would be to do a hard reset

Make sure you backup everything you want like Contacts etc..

You will need to run the alphaflux decert again, but the Sim Unlock should remain

One of the main resons for this is becausse the app was running in the

background. Normally a reboot will fix this unless it is an app that is

started automatically on startup.

Manually removing apps is a messy way of doing it as you would need to

start removing the registry entries as well.

Thanks. In this case I did kill all the running apps first, and still go this error.

I've now done a hard-reset and started again from scratch, and now everything seems to be working ok.

This forum rocks :)

That's the best way with a new mpx200 as it removes the

preinstalled apps that clutter up the phone.

Now you can re-install them to the storage card from the cd.

The only app which needs to be installed to the phone is jmms (if you want mms to work).
