Is it possible to stop ActiveSync deleting mail in my Inbox?

If I delete a message in my Inbox on my SPV E200 when it's connected to the cradle, ActiveSync then deletes the e-mail message from my main Outlook inbox.

Can I set ActiveSync to only send messages to my phone and not the other way around?

It's very annoying to find my main Inbox empty and my messages in Deleted Items. As yet I've managed to put them back into my Inbox but I'm sure there will be a time when I forget and important e-mails get deleted.

I fell foul to this one today, slapped myself as fortunately they weren't particulary important emails.

However...I believe if you delete the email from your phone, and then empty your "Deleted items" folder as well, this will stop Activesync nuking them on your PC.

Wouldn't this also delete them from your deleted items on the pc? My understanding is ActiveSync assumes your phone e-mail is identical to your pc e-mail so makes sure both are the same.

I try to remember to not delete e-mails on my phone, it's still annoying mind.

yep, microsoft broke that feature!

it also happens if you run an imap server, it does a delete of the messages and a purge other deleted messages as well, which is wrong wrong wrong, and i did take great pleasure in pointing the smartphone development team to the correct RFC so they could learn how to talk imap correctly :)

the top tip for emails on the smartphone is don't delete them on the device as it hasn't a clue on how to do it the right way
