Help.......My imate smartphone will not switch on

I updated my rom from 1.5 to "SAP 1.7". At first it gave me an error message saying "Incompatible Rom" so I replaced the file NK.nbf from ver 1.5 with ver 1.7 and the update went fine. In the end it asked me as usual to remove the battery for 30 seconds. I did as it said but after fixing the battery i could not switch on the phone :) . I connected the charger but there was no response, the light indicating that the charger is connected will not light up. I think it is dead......

Can any one please tell me how I can switch on the phone and get till the boot loader or the canary screen so that I can revert back to the original rom(1.5).
