Guest stevo_knuckles Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 Hi all I have been reading up exensively for weeks and have found lots of useful info to questions I have had and fortunately been able to answer by reading extensively. Now I may not understand it all but at least get the idea. Now I see lots of references to plugins i.e. orange plugin, RJplugin (think that's right) mail plugins etc I think you get what I mean :) . I'm not really getting what all this talk about plugins really mean. I do understand to some degree that they add functionality to a lot of things especially home screens etc. Is there a guide to explaining what the plugins do or where you get them or even need them? or a really good post thread I have missed that would give a new smartphone user like me something to read that might explain it a bit better for me. My eyes are poppng out from all the reading  that I have been doing seeing that I am the inquisitve person that I am, but the plugins concept and useof is just not sinking in for me. I can hear all you knowledgeable people now groaning  and the muttered noob alert hehehe, but any little titbits or simple answers would be greatly appreciated by me the noobie one  I have an spv e100 decerted and sim unlocked on O2 if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance Steve
Guest zeta101 Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 plugins are only to do with homescreens. Basically all a homescreen is, is a stack of different plugins on top of each other. The best thing to do initially is to read the article on the MSDN site here Hopefully you know some basic html, this will make xml look less scary. But in either case, its all pretty intuitive what different things mean. The site will give some examples of the standard plugins that come default with smartphone 2002, remyJ and other people have made different ones too as youve found out. If you have any more questions then ask away! and welcome to the site :)
