I want my money back

I'm fed up with my SPV. I don't know which is worse, the bugs or the agony of inputting via the world's worst keypad, or having to recharge every day, or knowing that I paid 170 quid for it.

I asked Orange to take it back on the grounds of bugginess. They said no because I've had it for more than 14 days. So I've suggested that it's not fit for the purpose for which it was sold. And I've said that if they don't give me a refund or a replacement handset (NOT an SPV) I'll take it up with Trading Standards. I'm waiting for a reply. Frankly I think they should recall them all until they're in a positiion to ship software that works. Anyone care to comment?

ermmm... I like my SPV!! In fact I thing it's great!

Though the real test for it will be when I go abroad for 3 wks and try using on other network (my simlock is on BTW so will have to go through a tedious process of "connect charger.. remove battery...). Oh well...

I must say, I've had a few bugs, and some pain getting GPRS/MMS set up. And admittedly the keypad is a little small. But I've got used to that. If Orange tried to recall all these phones I personally would tell them to **** off because there's no way I want to go back to my previous phone.

If you're phone doesn't fulfill your purposes (and I can certainly see how that could happen) then I think you are in the right to ask for a refund inspite of being outside the 14day period. 14 day right of return is return for any reason. However consumer laws protect you from being stuck with a faulty/misdesigned product that doesn't reach the claims it was sold under.

Anyway... good luck in your arguments with Orange. But don't tell them to recall mine :D

That's a shame you feel that way Fed Up.

I personally was a little apprehensive about buying this phone, after all this is a completly new, untested (in the real world) operating system and handset, bound to be some probs.

I work (only part time mind you) in a phone shop and see daily people with bugs and problems with all phones. I also see people come in every day who cannot get on with their new phone for various reasons, different menus paths, keypads, even ringtones etc.

We would not replace your handset after 14 days either, but of course you are entitled to have the phone repaired. Orange would be legally within their right to attempt to repair/fix the phone for you before having to refund or replace.

I have got used to the keypad now, and as for the bugs, well their are a number of fixes or work arounds for most of them on this forum, and I don't believe there are any more bugs with this phone than any other new release these days certainly with these types of features.

The battery is not good I admit, and I have made these feelings known to Orange, as I believe have most users. Mine will last 24 hrs on standby, although most days I use it for internet, e-mail, messenger and especially the media player, so I shouldn't expect it to last more than a day for the use it gets.

I've managed to do so many different things with my phone that I've picked up from this forum, I've even dabbled into converting video to play on the phone and now can show of my home movies, holidays, parties etc. now that beats any photo album 10 fold.

If I were you I would ask for a replacement handset from Orange, they should oblige, of course I'm not you and we all have different needs and wants, so lastly, good luck, hope you get it sorted one way or another.

Cheers, Shire

PS I LOVE MY SPV

I can say my spv works fine, ok it has maybe had some 2 or 3 bugs in one month, but at least it synchronizes well my applications with pc. Maybe you got a special bugged one....it's strange to be so disappointed, even if it will be better in future launches, we all hope so!
