Guest sophist Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 My MPx200 ran out of power at about 5pm yesterday evening and I didn't get around to charging it until 7am this morning - 14 hours. When I switched it back on after the charge was complete, huge chunks of data seem to have disappeared - eg contacts, email & GPRS settings, wallpaper, ringtones. All my programs still seem to be there although most of them now tell me that they are unregistered. I guess I'm going to have to perform a hard reset and then invest in some backup software in case it happens again. However, I'm curious as to whether anyone else has come across such a partial loss of data following a short loss of power?
Guest squall Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 This is fairly common, its brought on by very low batterys or corrupt registry. A hard resets a good idea as your phone will still have some of the old information/ apps / files. Best to clean start. Outlook can backup contacts etc. I install everything else to the storage card. I also hard reset as a matter of course every couple of months
Guest abatis Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 I do not work for Sprite Backup, but if you used Sprite this would be a push of a button to restore your phone to the last backup. Programs and data ,everything right back to where it was before. Simple and usefull.
Guest Vector Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 Apparently Sprite Backup doesn't work on the MPx200 normally.... but if you disable the radio on the phone while installing it, it does work :) But there is also All-Backup you could try if it doesn't work...
Guest squall Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 that doesnt seem to be correct david. It appears sprite backup does not work regardless of state of battery.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 As the other post regarding sprite backup in this section the problem could be that the app only works on AT&T and not Orange supplied mpx200 phones. This needs to be confirmed, also another possibility is that it may work on the new Orange ROM image.
Guest beersoft Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 sprite backup does work, its just there are 2 programs in the sprite backup folder "setup.exe" moans that the phone is wrong and "Sprite Backup for SmartPhone.exe" which does work later OWen
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Nice spot beery :) EDIT yep works for me  now to notify the author.
