USB Device Not Recognized - HELP!

What started out as an intermittent problem has become a permanent disability. Phone will not sync on the cradle or with a cable.

Cable charges phone OK.

Likely an OS issue or hardware? Or does it just need a hard reset?

Anyone who has experienced similar problems, please help!

I would guess that it's something on the computer rather than on the phone. Have you got Activesync installed OK?

Try deletingd whatever partnerships are in active sync, reboot and connect the phone. See if it reconnects. I agree with Scott2  that it is probably a PC issue. 3.7.1 seems to be a litlle flakey like most MS patch efforts.

Happened almost the same issue yesterday. PC booted up as normal, connected the phone, and Activesync didn't do a thing. Phone was charging. I left it for a while unplugged, plugged back in and it work. No real reason I could think of why not... apart from Activesync maybe not loading correctly on startup. Dunno.

Check you firewall settings and to test disable it and see if matters improve.

Otherthings to try are as follows

1, Plug cradle into another USB port, (common problem I have had to do before)

2, Make sure you are not using a USB hub as this can also cause comunication problems.
