Guest Porkspeare Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 I have an SPV E100, this little beauty has served me well. Until about an hour ago. I disconnected my standard handsfree kit and now the profile will not change from Headset to any other profile. The phone will only now work if the headset is plugged in. I phoned Orange UK and they told me this is a very rare problem and requires the phone being sent back to SPV. I need to know is there any other known fix out there, I can't be without the phone.
Guest squall Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Its not rare at all. one of the most common problems. You can try things like sticking a match stick in the headphone socket etc. Its caused my the contacts shorting due to warping or something being stuck in there. Theres a good chance it will have to go back to htc - the manufacturer - not SPV SPV is a oranges name for the phone it stands for sound picture video
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 The other possible solution, I believe, is to blow down the hole
Guest nickcornaglia Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Also just try plugging the headset in and out until it frees the switch.
Guest Porkspeare Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Thanks for all your help. I phoned orange again and they sent me an SPV E200 to replace the faulty handset, which is nice of them. So the question is how do I get the SPV E200 to play a WAV on my storage card as a ringtone? The SetTones program no longer works as the application data is no longer in the IPSM folder.
Guest Porkspeare Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Can you believe it, I get an E200 and the E100 starts working again.
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Can you believe it, I get an E200 and the E100 starts working again. Didn't you have to send yours back? Do you have Orange Care? So which one will you use? :)
Guest Porkspeare Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 I phoned Orange to see what they could do for me, and they offered me a free upgrade to an E200. So I took it! The E200 arrived the next day, I activated the new sim and got the phone up and running. I was dicking about with the E100 when it suddenly started to work again, bloody typical! Anyway after seeing all the nice new features of the E200 and the speed increase I will be using that from now on. Hopefully it will be able to keep up with my demanding phone usage....I average about 1200 minutes a month. If anyone knows of anything I should install or where to get some cool E200 themes please let me know. Thanks to you all for your help.
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 Porkspeare shoots, he scores ! Got yourself a good deal there mate :) Most things that worked on your E100 will work on the E200 but then, from the same places, there is so much more to find that uses the better capabilities of the new OS  For example, try the MoDaCo3 skin 8)
