Guest Pagemakers Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 In storage/windows/messaging I have hundreds of mpd files. What are they?
Guest badboy4life Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 There your SMS, E-Mails and MMS files. Under WM2003 there seems to be a bug whereby it doesn't delete them when you delete your messages in the inbox. I raised this a while ago, can't be bothered to find the topic at the moment. What I found is that a lot of the files are only 0-2b and these are quite safe to delete, however it is a pain when u got hundreds to delete. But because they are so small don't think they take up much overall space, just an annoyance more than anything. One thing you can do is open the files in notepad and see whats inside, especailly if they are fairly large (>2b).
Guest Pagemakers Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 I take it some are current sms/emails as well?
Guest badboy4life Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 Yeah some are current, just corrected a mistake above. Its unlikely that any file only 2b in size will contain any information. Like I said the best thing to do is open some of the larger files in notepad and you can see what they contains. What I tend to do is use Smart Explorer and just select each file that indicates <2b and then just delete selection.
Guest Pagemakers Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Just done a sprite backup/restore. It took an hour because of these temp files. I have just deleted the lot!
