Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 PocketMVP does just what you need :) You can download it from www.monolithix.org
Guest danhughes87 Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 hi just downloaded it but it will only find my mpeg video files and wont find any .avi files. You sure it plays them? Dan
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 Yes, as that was the only player around that did until the excellent BetaPlayer was released.
Guest Taoski Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 Betaplayer and PocketDivxEncoder are a formidable team. It has relaunched my SPV as a media device since i found out about these. It does'nt play Mpeg files but it might in the future apparently...
Guest danhughes87 Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 how do you get it to play .avi files then when i go to open it only opens my .mpeg files in a list, and doesnt list any .avi files
Guest Vector Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 What are you using to encode your .avi files? Try using Pocket DivX Encoder, this works brilliantly for me...
Guest siu99spj Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 You also need to make sure the AVI files are in the root of the SD card. Although it can be made to read AVI's in different folders, it seems to throw me a wobbly after watching about 30s. Also, make sure your videos have the extension '.AVI'. Without that, PocketMVP won't see them.

Saying that though betaplayer is more stable so that is now my weapon of choice.
Guest siu99spj Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 betaplayer is more stable so that is now my weapon of choice Same here, especially as its faster (I can play half-speed videos rather than third speed videos), more stable, can open several files in a row and likes loading from sub-folders. I'm currently in the procees of starting a MASSIVE test on all smartphones (With various members help I hope!) to find out what works and what doesn't. The I can hopefully update my media encoding guide with approximate bit-rate settings. Well, thats the plan, now all I need is some time to do it...
Guest joecov Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 just started using betaplayer and pocketdivx endooder and very impressed, much better than anything i had used previously
Guest Taoski Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 Got it installed on my new iPAQ 4150 too.... wow... it rocks
