Guest DAN55 Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 hi, im considering a sendo X but incase the phone never arrives id like to check a couple of thing about the 200. i must admit, i tried it in the shop and thought it was pretty nice. 1.is the front screen as configurable as the NOW! screen on the X. ie: can you link pretty much anything to it (eg: agenda, missed alarms etc) 2.can the 200 use normal wav files for ringtones 3.is it 40 chord poly 4.in the agenda (current day), is it possible to scroll directly to other days without having to return to the calendar view first) thanks
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 Welcome to the site :) 1, not seen the sendo x so I cannot give an accurite answer. 2, YES but they may need to be converted to the correct format. they also play midi0 format. 3, NO the mpx200 is not a polyphonic phone . 4, NO but it links directly to the calender anyway.
Guest DAN55 Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 thanks for the info. oh dear, think i gonna have to wait for the 220 then!
Guest scott2eyes Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 1.is the front screen as configurable as the NOW! screen on the X. ie: can you link pretty much anything to it (eg: agenda, missed alarms etc)I don't know what you can do with the "X", but I've set up my MPx200 with links to my calendar, games, a couple of media player playlists, some games, settings (which contains alarms, profiles etc.) With the new RJHTML plugin (available to MoDaCo Plus members) you can even display information directly from the internet on the Homescreen. So I'd say "probably." 2.can the 200 use normal wav files for ringtones Yep. 3.is it 40 chord polyI don't know- I only ever use WAV and WMA audio files on mine- haven't used any MIDI tracks for anything yet... 4.in the agenda (current day), is it possible to scroll directly to other days without having to return to the calendar view first) If you're talking about the homescreen, then no- but clicking on the Calendar section of the homescreen opens up the Calendar application, which works pretty much in the same way as Outlook- you can scroll forwards and backwards a day at a time with left and right. thanks You're welcome! :) [EDIT- Yeah, I'm pretty slow...]
Guest DAN55 Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 scott2eyes: thanks for that. so even though it aint polyphonic, the wav ringtones sound good? ? how does it handle missed calls and reminders? -do you get an icon appearing somewhere onthe screen ta
Guest DAN55 Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 i knew there was something i had forgottent to ask! ? when setting the date+time for a reminder, is it possible to set it exactly, or can you only set it as a number of days/hours/minutes etc ie: i want to be able to set the reminder date/time as date followed by time, not in 78 hours! :)
Guest AvWijk Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 I tried the Sendo X, have it in my hands for some time, I didn't like the design and Symbian is confusing according Windows Smartphone. Also the storage card is not very good to reach and not hot-swappable (you must turn of services first before pulling out) To give an answer on your questions: 1.Ofcourse!! you can tweak it as much of you like, very much is possible. Standard you can change the home screen in three diffrent lay-outs. A theme editor is available to create your own themes very easy. In the home screen there are serveral icons, like short cuts on your Windows machine. Also the today screen with events on it, missed calls, etc. 2.Ofcourse, they work greatly. I have a very cool Matrix ringtone now, whiping out other 40-chorded Samsungs with ordinairy MIDI  3. No, 16 chord, but who needs 40 chords if you can use WAV? Much and much better! 4. Yup. The MPx200 is a great phone if you don't need bluetooth and camera, I have a MPx200 myself and my review of it is available in some days.
Guest AvWijk Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 i knew there was something i had forgottent to ask! ? when setting the date+time for a reminder, is it possible to set it exactly, or can you only set it as a number of days/hours/minutes etc ie: i want to be able to set the reminder date/time as date followed by time, not in 78 hours! Yes, exactly :) You can give up an start time, eg 17:32 at 3-6-2004, and an stop time, 23:00 at 3-6-2004, or even another date
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Basically you sync your phone with MS Outlook on your pc (you get a copy with the phone) so all your contacts and calender etc will be the same on the phone as they are on your pc.
Guest DAN55 Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 AvWijk: thanks for that where did you get hold of an X? i assume it was a demo/pre production model? about the reminder date/time - i was talking about the alarm date/time for the reminder, not the actual calendar entry itself. from what i could see of some screen shots, it looked the same options as windows (ie: in x number of hours/days etc)
Guest DAN55 Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 more questions! 1.is it easy to alter profiles (poss with the key on the side) 2.assuming that the organiser isnt good enough, can i get good 3rd party ones? ta
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 The organiser on the phone is very good so no worries there. Profiles can be configured in settings and selecting them is a matter of pressing the home button and selecting the profile you want.
Guest DAN55 Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 thanks awarner: i should have said i was refering to this point though - ta i knew there was something i had forgottent to ask! ? when setting the date+time for a reminder, is it possible to set it exactly, or can you only set it as a number of days/hours/minutes etc ie: i want to be able to set the reminder date/time as date followed by time, not in 78 hours! :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 You can set a reminder for what ever time you like from none to one week.
Guest shaggyguitarist Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 I am currently using mp3 tracks which are converted into .wav files as my ringtones. with little sound difference.
Guest DAN55 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 what now? carphone warehouse have just dropped the mpx price from £370 to £199! how can i resist?! but the X is out soon?
Guest DAN55 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 what can be added to the home screen? anything? or is it fairly limited does it use iTAP, and is it a good version? ta
Guest Colonel Trouble Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 I dont reckon the X will be out for a while , and I am loving my MPX200 at the moment .... but you might want to wait untill july sometime to get the new mpx220 when it comes out ?
Guest DAN55 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Colonel Trouble: thanks. is the battery standby charge v poor though on the mpx? ta
Guest Colonel Trouble Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Hardly ! Mine lasts a good while on an hour or so's charge . Just put it in its cradle whenever your on your pc or A pc . It charges through usb or a plug usb adaptor that I got with mine for free :D Grrrreat lol
Guest DAN55 Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 missed alarms: ie: when a reminder alarm occurs and you dont see it within the minute that it is actively on the screen, what happens to it? is there a missed alarms list? ta
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 The reminder will stay on the screen until you acknoledge it after that they sit in your calender.
Guest DAN55 Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 ta does it allow you to do other stuff before actioning the reminder. ie: if there were more than one sat there, i would want to action each in turn ta
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 You would have to ackknowledge each in turn, if that is what you mean.
Guest DAN55 Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 i meant, could i look at the first reminder, then update the calendar, then back for the 2nd reminder.....and so on -just like you could on your pc ta
