Guest David James Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 My Son has just bought an SPV and it is driving us all mad, here are just a few of our questions. Why does he loose the ringtones from the phone when the battery runs out. How do you access the SD card from the phone without using Active sync. How can we find out how much memory is currently in use. Is it possible to get rid of the rubbish default rings etc. What is a skin. These are just a few of the many questions we need answers to. Many thanks in advance to all those that help me. Dave
Guest Vector Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 Welcome to the site :) Why does he loose the ringtones from the phone when the battery runs out.Where are you placing the ringtones? How do you access the SD card from the phone without using Active sync. You can use Smart Explorer from Binarys How can we find out how much memory is currently in use.You can use Task Manager, also made by Binarys Is it possible to get rid of the rubbish default rings etc. Don't think so... What is a skin. It's what you see on the homescreen on the phone, and some skin other parts of the phone aswell, look in the Customisation - Homescreens forum for some skins... Hope that helps
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 Both Smart Explorer and Task Manager are essential additions to the phone software. You need to put the ringtones into IPSM(or Storage if you've got an E200) Application Data Sounds and it's important not to let the battery run out (or even low) of juice as this can cause software corruption problems. Pretty soon you'll realise your son has a wonderful piece of kit :)
Guest squall Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 Why does he loose the ringtones from the phone when the battery runs out.does this happen when you restart or just when the battery runs out? anyway sounds like you are putting them in wrong folder they should go IPSMApplication DataHomeSounds Or try this Changer Sonneries - you can have ringtons on the sd card How do you access the SD card from the phone without using Active sync. Get smart explorer from www.binarys.com How can we find out how much memory is currently in use.start/settings/about or get task manager from www.binarys.com Is it possible to get rid of the rubbish default rings etc. No, ands no need really What is a skin. its a theme that makes teh phone look different. It doesnt change the functionality of the phone but changes background picture text colour / size / font etc. known more commonly as homescreens - see http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewforum.php?f=43
Guest kjk Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 and for installation of these software , skin , games etc There are 3 way to install software on your smartphone 1.AUTO INSTALLER The first method, software run directly from your pc. You can identify this method based on the installer icon. Sync your phone with pc and click on the icon and follow instraction on your pc. 2. CAB FILES (*.cab) The second method is to use *.cab files. Simply move your *.cab file to IPSM/Windows/Start Menu/Accessories by using activsync. On your phone, go to program/accessories and you will find *.cab file in there just press action key on *.cab file and it will install HME.file is just a .CAB file renamed to distinguish it as a homescreen installer to install it use *.cab method 3.*.EXE The third method is to install *.exe files. Just move *.exe file to your phone via activsync to IPSM/Windows/Start Menu and you are done. You can also move *.exe files to storage card and make a shortcut in Start Menu folder. IPSM IS CALLED STORAGE ON SP2003 LIKE E200 and QTEK8080
