Guest Pixeled Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Hi, I was playing Duke3D for a while on my SPV (classic) and the game froze for a while. I didn't worry, because it happened more often while playing. Suddenly I got the Orange boot screen (with the sun coming up), so the phone had reset itself and it hung there. I tried to turn the phone off by using the power button but it wouldn't respond to anything I did, so I pulled out the battery. Still I wasn't very worried, the phone had crashed before and I had rebooted it before by removing the battery and turning it on again. I turned it on, and it hung again at the Orange boot screen. I tried over and over again and it keeps hanging there. Things I tried: - Keeping the battery out for half an hour - Kept waiting at the Orange boot screen for the phone to go on for about half an hour as well Now, I searched for topics in this forum that had simular problems and I found only one, namely here. So I know now the problem can be solved by hard resetting the phone. The only thing is; I don't want to hard reset my phone, I had everything perfectly in place and I was quite happy with the phone as it was. I had successfully unlocked the phone and flashed it with the (unofficial) Dutch update 1.6.3.1.1. As you might have guessed, my question is: is there a solution to my problem without having to hard reset it? Has anybody experienced this problem before? I would be eternally grateful to anyone coming with suggestions to help me with this problem :) Regards and thanks in advance, Thomas.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Nope unfortunately the only solution is to do a Hard Reset when you get stuck on the sunset screen.
Guest Pixeled Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Wow, that was a very fast reply :) Thanks a lot for it, too bad it wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear, but at least I know now what to do. p.s.: Do you have any idea how it is possible that this just suddenly happened? I have never had any problem at all with the SPV, it was running perfectly (accept for a few crashes).
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Just remember that the phone takes a while to boot the first time after a Hard Reset as it needs to rewrite the IPSM.
Guest Pixeled Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Yes, I know, as It did that also after flashing the phone with the new update. Thank you for your advice!
