Guest sven73 Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 I just bought the O2 Xphone and so far have been pretty happy with it except for one problem. When I enter the bluetooth screen everything comes up in chinese. This is a big problem for me since I don't read chinese. Is there a fix for this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. My firmware settings are: smartphone 2003 version 4.20.0 (Build 13291) Radio version 1.12.00 Operator 1.9.11.4 Manufacturer 1.9.11.2 microsoft 4.20.13291.0 language 1.9.11.2 file system 4.20.13291.0
Guest samuel337 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Hi there your problem's well known. Obviously o2 didn't anticipate that xphones destined for HK (its the only place that has xphones in Chinese - it is english everywhere else, including Singapore) would be distributed overseas. Check out this thread on the MTekk forums: http://www.mtekk.com.au/forums/viewtopic.p...uetooth+chinese There's a rough translation there, and I've copied here: the 'Start -> Settings ->Bluetooth -> Menu -> Bonded Devices' screen: 完成 = Done 功能表 = Menu In the menu, option 1 means New, option 2 means edit settings, option 3 means delete. If you press the New option, the screen says: Detected devices (it is constantly detecting). Any devices are displayed there. The left soft key says New (press this when the device is located and selected). The right soft key says End. After a while, if you don't do anything and no devices are detected, a message will pop up saying that no devices have been detected, do you want to try again?. I think that's about it. Just a few extra things, when another device attempts to connect, a dialog will popup on the xphone. The left soft button is Yes, while the right one is No - therefore if you want to accept the connection, press Yes, if not, press No. If you press Yes, then it will ask for the PIN you entered on the device you started the bonding process with. enter it and press the left soft key. HTH Sam p.s. btw, that's me on the other forum :D EDIT: Damnit, the chinese characters didn't come up. Check out the thread at the link I gave you, it should come up there.
Guest junk_bay Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I have the exact same problem. I too purchased it from an auction. It still has 6 months warranty which came in useful as the camera packed up and the previous owner had cleared storage clearing out the T9 in the process. From O2's website this url: http://www.myxphone.com/Xphone/personal/te...ations.vm/os/ch acknowledges the problem as a limitation with the Chinese model. I too have no need for Chinese and would dearly like to overwrite the ROM with the English version.
