Moto's - Pocket PC vs Windows for Smartphones

Been looking at the MPX and MPX220 - they both look reasonably imminent but the MPX is going to have Pocket PC, whereas I think the 220 will run on Smartphone Windows - anyone got any misgivings/stories to tell/ opinions on either of these OS's? Both phones look good but it might come down to the OS. Pocket Pc has been around for longer I think so could be less buggy perhaps? Any thoughts?

Nope the MPX runs Windows mobile SE pocket pc edition where as the mpx220 runs the 2003 smartphone edition.

The MPX is a nice beast and is on my wish list, the only downside is the rumoured 200Mhz processor where as the xda2 has a 400Mhz. Saying that though size for size I know which one I'd buy :D

No, they're definitely different.

1. Pocket PC supports stylus

2. Software suppliers always offer 2 separate versions and loading a Pocket PC one onto your Smartphone will crash it

So apart from stylus support, is there anything else to tell them apart?

They run different software so if like me you want excel and word the the MPX is for you.

The MPX being ppc based has a far wider range of software available for

it at the moment.

Easy mistake and I can see a lot of people getting

confused as there are a lot of us who are used to just

talking about the mpx200 as the mpx.

I think moto should have kept the name MPX300 for the MPX

would make it easier for us :D

i agree, awarner.

the mpx only has a 200mhz proc? why is that? shouldn't the basis of PPCs be at least 400? but it seems that the mpx has won my heart, with the dual-hinged design and all. the only problem i see in the mpx220 is the mini-SD.

Remember the MPX is smaller than a standard PPC so to help battery sizelife etc could be a reason behind the use a slower processor.
