Guest badboy4life Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 I've just recived my bluetooth dongle this morning and as I expected am having a nightmare trying to set it up. I've read a few posts and get the feeling I need to change the COM port as it is currently set to COM15. ActiveSync is only showing IR under COM Ports, I don't have a COM1 or COM2 so I'm not quite sure why Bluetooth is detecting COM15 as the first available COM port. I've been through Device Manager and looked at possible ways in which to change it with no luck. Any Ideas :?:
Guest badboy4life Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 Ok solved the problem. This maybe useful to other people having a similar problem, what I found is that Device Manager does not list all the devices, namely those which are not connected to the computer. If you select Add/Remove Hardware and the select Remove/Uninstall Hardware there is an option to display hidden devices, under this I found that COM9 and COM10 had been assigned to my old nec606, upon removing these I was able to assign Bluetooth to COM8. This is under Win2k might differ slightly under other operating systems.
