Guest jalm1 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 This is not a new issue for me, i just havent ask about it yet. I curently have an i-Mate PPCPE, and and i-mate smartphone2, had an unlocked OEM MPx200. And with all three phones i have run into issues on the t-mobile USA network. Their support is obviously of no help, but many of my freinds in my area also have the same experiences. It seems the device have termendious time finding service, i have had this issue with all three phones. If i go into a building i loose service (except for a few buildings by the windows), When i walk back out onto the street it can take as long as 2 hours for the phones to find service again, and some times i get an error on the smartphone2 "Denied...Searching". Does anyone know why it would take so long to find service, and it cuts in and out all the time. Is there some network setting that i should set so that it looks for t-mobile. I should not be having this issues. when i use my t-mobile (locked) t-68i i have not problem (it will cut out in some of the buildings but not as many, and that is to some extent expected) but when i walk back onto the street i get service right away and dont have a problem with it. Same is true for my t-mobile blackberry, it works in more rooms in more buildings and as soon as i walk outside, service. This is also happending in the city center of DC. Any help would be appricated as i am about ready to through the phones out the window and but a t-mobile PPC (that works just fine in these areas) or wait for the new HP to come out. The only thing that i can figure is some network software in these unlocked phones, since every other phone that i have tried works just fine.
Guest martin Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 You could try setting the phone to Manual and T-mobile and see if that helps. Settings-Telephony-Networks Network selection= Manual, (press done) Go back into networks Menu-Select a network (takes ages searching) Select T-mobile If you get searching but you are in a known coverage area then your phone might be searching for known cells. Try running the Select a network again as this should scan all frequencies. Let us know if you get any luck with it :D
