Guest samuel337 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Hey guys I got an email from o2 earlier about this party in HK, and it turns out the extra software is not the new ROM, but rather a Java runtime and some java apps. IT is available to all o2 users now, via the new o2 autoupdate. check it out at: http://www.myxphone.com/serviceandsupport/...818/swupgrade/7 AutoUpdate is built to give the user convenient access to helpful information and exciting software for the user’s device. AutoUpdate also provides messages to inform the user of repair center locations, helpdesk phone no., software upgrade, user events, product announcements and user tips to make it easy for user to get the best experience. With AutoUpdate the user can download contents or software via ActiveSync from desktop or over the air through wireless Internet connections. User can get first hand information about available software upgrades or user tips to help operate his device in a different way or overcome difficulties he may have experienced with the device. I can't get it working though, as it says my xphone is not an xphone... and  Any solutions? I'm interested to see who gets it working - can you post some images and confirm whether it is a real java runtime? thanks Sam
Guest guroos Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 I encountered similar error message with AutoUpdate...suspect it's due to ROM version......my ROM version is 1.7.10.2...
Guest kwyeung Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 I could install the program and download the catalodge. But I see no Java VM, there is only one calculator application for download.
Guest samuel337 Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Sorry to raise your hope then... but its very interesting because on the how-to page of the o2 website, (http://www.myxphone.com/Xphone/serviceands...hone.vm/n/howto), the screenshot seems to suggest otherwise... I have attached one below. kwyeung: Did you encounter any problems when installing it? Samautoupdate_Xphone_HowTo1.jpg

Sam I couldn't install the program when I'm using user account in XP box, but everythings go smooth when I'm using administrator account.
Guest hy_edl048 Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Can we download the program (Java runtime for O2 Xphone) like we download other software, through Internet PC? Not from Xphone? I tried to install Xphone AutoUpdate, but it didn't recognize my Xphone, so I can't use the AutoUpdate. Thanks Rgds
Guest samuel337 Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Sorry - if you read my post a bit later, I have actually discovered that the Java Midlet Manager is not actually there, contrary to the screenshots on the o2 website. However, I think that o2 wants you to download the Java runtime through the o2 AutoUpdate program in order to encourage people to use it - I originally couldn't install it either, but the recent version seemed to work - try downloading it again. Maybe o2 will make the Java runtime available when it comes out of trial! Sam
Guest hy_edl048 Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 I think it wouldn't work at my Xphone, because I update my Xphone with I-Mate 1.10.xxx ROM, now my Xphone become Smartphone2... Now I'm waiting the new Xphone ROM, to change back my Xphone to it original, so I can run all O2 Xphone software...
