Guest dougsdir Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Im on an Orange contract (120 mins a month any time any provider). If im piggybacking my broadband internet connection over bluetooth how can i be sure that im not dialing into WAP or using GPRS. I had a look at the Call Timers on my phone and it reported that Data Calls was 08:06, now i dont recall making any data calls as ive just been using my Bluetooth connection to browse the net. Does this 08:06 signify a WAP dial up connection as a GPRS connection would surely be measured on the amount of data downloaded and not time. I checked my Call History list and the only numbers dialled in the list are tel. numbers. GPRS on Orange is well expensive so i dont want to incur any charges for that. When i phoned Orange about it the guy told me he couldnt check on this 8m6s call until the next bill date (next month). ( i think this is crap)
Guest badboy4life Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 I think the phone also includes GPRS in the data call time counter, which as you say makes no sense. The best thing to try is to select flight mode and then see if you can still connect to the internet, if you can this indicates that it you are not using WAP dial up or GPRS. If you can't then the piggyback connection isn't working properly. Hope that helps.
