Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Just tried to install the Interstellar Flames Trial on my SPV with a bit of a bizarre result; The game said it installed OK yet when I checked the Programs menu it wasn't there. Hmm. Tried to install it again and ActiveSync reported a lack of space on the device - wasn't a problem before. Obviously Interstellar Flames (or ActiveSync) left some install files on the SPV after the failed install. Exploring from ActiveSync gave no result so I resorted to ALL-Explorer and found the Interstellar Flames install CAB sitting in IPSMWINDOWSAppMgr, all 3.8MB of it...Resorted to Cut/Paste to Storage Card then deleted it from there, now I'm back to the same free space on the SPV itself as before. I have started to wonder what the hell is going on when installing programs? The _only_ prog. I've managed to install with success is ALL-Explorer - what would I do without ALL-Explorer :-)...what gives? I can install ALL-Locations' Traffic Counter no problem but every time I do a power cycle the certificate "disappears" and the app won't run....like I said, weirdness. How come the files in AppMgr don't show when exploring via ActiveSync? This is important, a lot of peeps will be wondering where on earth their SPV's memory's gone, as I did. I'm stumped as to why I can't install these Trial versions - any ideas? Last but not least - big-up to ALL-Locations for ALL-Explorer, cracking bit of software. Guest zenabi Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Firstly, where did you get the trial version from? I didn't know it was available. Secondly, I bought the full game for £1 and the cab file was under 1MB (can't remember the exact size). Perhaps the 3.8MB cab file you downloaded was a fake?
Guest madu Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 You probably cannot see files when exploring from activesync because your windows explorer is set NOT to show hidden and system files.. Go to My Computer>View>Options> find it there (depends on your OS).

Just because I'm new to the board doesn't mean I'm new to PC's ;-) -- Chris : )

Hmm, seems I d/l'ed the PPC version....teach me to look a bit more carefully in future ;-) Still, my lack of observance makes no difference to my basic problem - that I can't install s*** on the SPV without the certificates getting wiped every time I restart the 'phone... -- Chris : )
Guest p_dog Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 I had some similar problems when trying to download onto my pc and then transferring to the phone via activesync. If you download directly over gprs there should be no problem, which is really annoying as there is no orange reception where i live
Guest Bazz Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 You can use the phone to browse through you PC's connection when it's docked. Saves on GPRS and, if you're got a fast connection then it saves time as well. Have a wander through the other posts to find out how. Barry
