Guest CarlHatton Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 Last night I received a text on my SPV, when I tried to unlock the phone to read it the phone wouldn't respond - it hasn't done this for months. I took the battery off and restarted the phone, it then seemed to turn straight on to the shut down screen and reboot. When it started booting again it went into some weird testing procedure (not the 3 colour canary screen) - I had 2 or 3 different screens pop up testing the security integrity and stuff. Once this had finished it rebooted again and came up with the default home screen. Looking through the menus i had lost all of my custom settings and folder structures, my profiles had reset to the defaults and I had a whole load of Orange directory listings in my contacts. The phone had also reverted back to being application locked. The first thing I thought was that it was a strange Orange SIM update which had gone wrong, but a call to Orange assured me that they hadn't sent any updates to me since January. Has anyone else experienced anything similar on their original SPV? Apologies if this is a repost, i tried searching but wasn't too sure what to look for.
Guest squall Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 partial resets are common, and caused by a number of issues. You should hard reset your phone, to insure it has not retained any of the old info, then just reinstall everything again. Very annoying but it happens
Guest CarlHatton Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 OK Thanks, any ideas what the diagnostics screens on reboot were?
Guest squall Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 thats what happens when it resets, it will do the same when you hard reset. I think it was added on the 1.6 update to the spv, as i cant remember seeing it before then
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 It also did this on the 1.5 update as well :D
