Guest the loc-man Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 Hi , I have a SPV now and can now upgrade. Natural would be to go for the E200, however /i know the new phones C500, Moto220 etc are coming. Is the E200 generally still a good phone, I read these forums all the time and know about the issues- SD card. I dont want to spend a lot on a new phone, no more than £50,I am on a £25 tariff, in my next phone I want BT and camera defo. So is it still worth going for the E200? I go out of country till end of June so want a new phone minute I come back. I may be able to wangle a BT headset with a E200 as well what shall I do? I have other SD devices and dont like the idea of another memory card format (mini-SD). What is BT like? does it work ok? Headset and file explorering on other phones and PPCs? Whats the cam like, dont want to use it for professional stuff as I have a Digi cam for that, whats movies recorded on the camera like on it? So I know the new phones will obviously (or should be) better than the E200 but is it still a good phone? ie compete with the new phones? cheers
Guest the loc-man Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 No one have any comments for me? COme on people help me here :?
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 You're probably seeing the results of advice-fatigue here. It's a common question to which there is no definitive answer. I would go for the E200 if only to let the dust settle on the new phones. After all the operators are not good at keeping to release dates. I don't use Bluetooth so can't comment but people are using it and, with some caveats, seem happy enough. As for the camera ; well it's not great for stills or video but it's only intended as a fun thing. You should get one free on your tariff anyway :D
Guest the loc-man Posted June 12, 2004 Report Posted June 12, 2004 Thanks for a reply tho! Yes I will get a E200 free on my tariff and there was an offer to also get a free BT headset, which I may try and get at the end of the month. I realise the camera is for fun, but does it work?, ie is it good enough to take pics to email etc, fair enough not to print out..also my digi cam does video capture at 320X240, so does the E200, will it compare to this? as I use this on my digi-cam a lot and use it to email family etc. would be handy just to take a e200 only rather than that and a digi-cam. Is it a good improvement over the SPV? in speed, screen, functionality. I have read about the bugs, do these seriously affect the phone? or are they just annoyances? cheers
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted June 12, 2004 Report Posted June 12, 2004 I love my SPV3 to bits! However, I rarely use Bluetooth so can't comment on that, and I can't compare it to the SPV or the SPV E100 as I've never bought any of them.
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 12, 2004 Report Posted June 12, 2004 Example in the pub. You can tweak the exposure better than me !pub.jpg
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 12, 2004 Report Posted June 12, 2004 Example outdoors, with shaky hand :Dstation.jpg
Guest the loc-man Posted June 12, 2004 Report Posted June 12, 2004 Thanks for that Stu, Are these at max quality of E200? the outside one is good, inside is a bit as you say under exposed, can you adjust this prior to taking a pic? Can you do an example of a video please and post? cheers
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 12, 2004 Report Posted June 12, 2004 Yes you can adjust settings before taking. Here's a video, again inside but you'll get an idea  Camera image size can be 320x240 or twice or half that. Video capture size is 176x144 or 352x288 Zoom x1 x2 x3 Ambience Incandesecnt, Daylight, Fluorescent, Dim or I just use AutoChris dancing.zip
