I have just got an E200 and I am still loving it. Only thing is it crashes like mad. I never had this with E100.

Is this a common problem? Or do I send it back to Orange?

Are you installing too much onto the phone and not the storage card or letting the battery run too low ?

As Rik said, they don't crash that often !

Update on the issue:

The E200 appears to only crash on incoming calls ie: the callers number gets displayed on the screen, but the phone doesn't ring it just locks up.

I phoned orange again, they said it is a known issue with the handset and the work around is to remove the battery, then replace it and turn it back on. Then the customer services guy gave me the number for HTC and said ring them and see if there is a software update.

So I phoned HTC, they said it's a fault with the handset not software and I should get a replacement.

So I'm currently left with a crashing E200 that orange won't swap as it's a known issue.

The only software I have installed on it is "SD Sounds" so I can have a wav as a ringtone. Just wondering if anyone knows if this software could cause the issue to occur more often?

Phone O CS, and quote the sale of goods act to them.

They have no reason not to replace the phone, after all should a PHONE not be able to recieve calls?

Within the first six months, they have to prove that the phone has no fault, after six, you must prove it has.

Do a google for the "sale of goods act 1979".

Dont let them fob you off....... be firm but polite.

Good luck

Every E200 is "not fit for the purpose for which it was sold". The bluetooth headset range is 1 meter and they arent going to fix it. I have post with my theories and requesting help from the community to fix it.

I mean why would they bring out the C500 within 6 months of the E200 release if the E200 wasnt screwed?

Hi,

I have the same problem with a second E200 I bought off eBay.

I have changed the ROM to the latest I-mate ROM but so far have had no luck what so ever with it. It doesn't do it all the time but it does it enough to start ticking me off.

I take it your one also freezes sometimes?

I just got a P900 from Orange and that is having same range problems yet the non Orange P900 is having no problems.... I think Orange have bodged the Bluetooth stack software, hmmmm sounds familiar..... where.... hmmm Sony Vaio? Oh yeah thats it.

WHY DO SOME MANUFACTURERS ALWAYS THINK THEY KNOW BETTER THAN THE AGREED GLOBALLY ACCEPTED STANDARDS THAT WERE SET FOR DAMN REASON?!

You can use WAVs as ringtones without any extra software - I would uninstall this ans see if it makes a difference :P

How do you play wavs for ringtones? every file i've put into the phone will either be recognised by Media Player or be invisible ( which i'm hoping Smart Explorer will fix)

your problem must be that when you recieve a call the phone trys to get the ringtone you have on the card and it doesnt ring because it must have some problem getting the sound. if you remove the card when the phone freezes in a call it will play the phone default ring and you will be able to awnser the call. happens a lot on my phone :P
