I purchased Music Box yesterday to play music on my MPx200. This is my view of the software;

It looks nice and even has a really nice visualization at the top of the screen so you can see a cool little oscillascope )I think that's what you call it) effect as you listen to your music. That's cool. Also, upon installation, you can choose your theme (or colour scheme) so not everybody has to have the same looking player (as with PocketMind's Pocket Music which, although skinnable, only has one extra skin available thanks to some kind soul who roams this forum).

Anyway, that's about as far as the good bits go because control of the thing is like trying to teach a cat to walk the tightrope. Now, I'm not IT Illiterate, I may not be the best, but I'm not the dumbest, but I still haven't really worked out how to change the volume (though it has changed somewhat so I must be doing something)! The user manual basically says "Whatever you want to do, press 'Ok'" which kind of frustrated me until I realised that I need to press '0' (zero) first and then I could 'tab' around the controls using the cursor keys. But this is slow and cumbersome - often the file selector left me with no choice but to exit the software and restart because it stopped responding (though if the file selector worked as it is designed to work, it would be excellent).

Moving around your tracks is easy using the keypad (and if you ever forget the key-mappings, you can press the left softbutton and a help screen pops up), but I don't see there's any way to move around within a song.

But playback is jittery. It stops every few seconds then continues - this is very annoying and the only help you get from the manual is that maybe you should reboot your phone because this software should only be used on the Smartphones with a faster processor (shame there's no demo version to tell you this) - Anyway, I thought the MPx200 was one of the nippy Smartphones, so what do you need to run this software?

So all in all, I'm kind of regretting purchasing this software. It's easy to condemn and be negative, but there's nothing you can do when your first and lasting impression is "I wish I hadn't bought this". I never thought that of PocketMusic, but as far as this is concerned, it needs work and I can see why there's no demo version.

I give in 2 out of 5 (**---)

Wins - Looks, simplicity, Keypad Control

Losses - Clunky, Unreliable, Confusing, Still can't change the volume

Thanks for your review. We need some like this to prevent us from buying software that has been prematurely released or should not have been released at all. Unfortunately I'm still stuck with the built in option which isn't bad but wish it had some basic options... it doesn't even have volume variation other than 5 discrete levels!

See it here -> http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDet...roductId=123617

I've tried this, PocketMusic and that one that looks like an iPod (can't remember it now) and of all the pay-for-software packages, Pocket Music is the best for me and although there are issues with such things as whether that Bass option does actually change anything, I recommend it above all others.

Just my opinion.

I reported Bass issue to the support, you could do that too so we get update quicker.
