Guest klargon Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 I need your help!!! I am working on my University Dissertation, which I am now evaluating. During my dissertation, based on mobile phone games, I have produced a site full of research relating to the constraints of mobile phone games development. I need it to be tested by the potential market, which may very well be you guys. If you have a spare couple of minutes, could you please go to The Mobile Phone Game Developers Bible (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/john.pollard67/) and comment on the following. Please post your comments on this thread, or if you prefer email me at [email protected] . It would be handy if you could give me your name, then you’ll get a place in the acknowledgements in my dissertation (ace!) Please comment on the following (I do not expect you to answer them all!): 1. Visual Presentation: Does the site look nice? What looks best and worst? Do you like the colour scheme? Did you think the site was professional? 2. Navigation: Could you easily figure out how to navigate the site? What could be improved upon? How usable do you think the site is? Is the content broken up logically? 3. Content Were the loading times acceptable (please tell me the connection speed)? Did the pages have too much/little content? Was the content easy to read and follow? Was it informative? 4. Problems: Did you find any major errors in the site? Did all images load? 5. Overall opinion. Thank you in advance, you’re all very nice people! PLEASE NOTE: 1. The search will not work as the server will not support a database connection 2. I understand that not all information on the site will be correct 3. This site is only temporarily hosted for evaluation purposes. It will not be a hosted web site after evaluation, it’s just for my dissertation
Guest midnight Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 wow, hold on there, did you ask paul if you can post this? (if not i suggest you pm him (Paul [MVP] asap)

Guest Paul [MVP] Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 Tis OK! P Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest muff Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 who do you perceive the target user for the site is ? game developers? newbies? gamers?
Guest klargon Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 I decided that the main user group is likely to be budding game developers. Perhaps also a means of reference from more experienced game developers. It's not really intended for gamers, i'm sure it's too technical and uninteresting. To be honest, I don't really know the first thing about games development, so I don't even know if it's any good to anyone!
Guest midnight Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 it certainly could be, you need to update/fix your smartphone devices though, XDA isnt really classes as ms smartphone, its really a pocketpc, but you can add the original SPV and the SPV E100 (and their equivelant xphone/imate), the Mitac Mio 8380 and 8390, Compal AR11 (if you really must, but this is the MS dev device), Samsung i600 and thats not including the new devices announced :D
Guest klargon Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 To be honest, the database of handsets was a bit of an after thought. I created, populated and integrated the database in 1 day, and some of the specs of handsets are fabricated 'cos I couldn't find the details on the net. I'm in the UK, and I've not heard of some of the handsets you mentioned. Thanks for the input anyway, it's all gonna play a part in my evaluation.
