Guest Orinoco Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 For a while now the SD card has refused to communicate with the phone and the mics been dodgy as anything, crisp and perfect one minute, silent the next. Now the back button doesn't want to work properly, the four button has the same problem and the 0 button is going the same way. The buttons seem to work okay except you can't press either 4 or back consecutively, they only work once, which makes texting a complete nightmare as the back button cannot be used, nor can the 4, so all of my texts are fulls of g's now wherever an i or h should be!! I've tried deleting some data to free up storage and memory , hard reset , upgrading software , downgrading software. I rung up orange to get it replaced under man warranty and was given three options: 1. Take out phone insurance for a year and have the phone replaced by orange (costing 20 odd quid a month) 2. Pay for a new handset (£300??) 3. Pay to have the phone sent back to manufacturer, pay to have it looked at, have it repaired free under the warranty, pay to have it sent back and wait ATLEAST 6 weeks whilst being offered no replacement phone. Totalled this up and it'll be close to £50. I can't afford to be without my phone for a minimum of 6 weeks, probably closer to 3 months according to the orange rep. Surely as the phone is well under a year old (about 3 months) the manufactureres have to repair it for free under consumer law....?? Matter for the Office of fair trading right??
Guest squall Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 if you bought hte phone from an orange shop, take it in and ask for a replacement handset, they may well give you a replacement there and then. Also ask orange about an emergency replacement (about £75 for orange to send you a refurbished phone). Phone and ask the same questions again, you may get a better responce from a different rep. Orange are inconsistant
