spv e200 - cant get sound to work in video recording

Two mates have the same phone, and they can record sound, however, I get none.

if I record a voice note, it's quite quiet, but I can hear it

I've tried playing back on a PC too, no sound?, any ideas?

(and yes, i've enabled sound in the capture settings)
