Being that the 8390 doesn't have bluetooth capability, even though It's In the firmware  I want to purchase a bluetooth headset with a dongle. I know plantronics made one that's discountinued, Jabra has one and bluetrek has one. Has anyone tried any of these and can tell me If the reception Is clear or If they're even compatible with Mitac?

I have never used Bluetooth before but am also keen to see if it will work well with 8390.

To use the dongle-thingy, you'll need one like the Jabra FS200 for Microsoft-Powered Pocket PC Phones & Smartphones. The headset connector on the mio8390 is not like the standard one found on most phones. mio8390 has a modified 2.5mm 4-conductor audio plug.

There is an adaptor for mio8390-like plug to standard 2.5mm plug.

As for quaility, the FS200 for PocketPC/Smartphones with the mio8390 tends to be tuned for a higher-pitched voice at the mic, but the earpiece sounds great. Considering I have problems with most headsets (my voice is very low-pitch and I speak softly), the Jarba FS200 works nicely, however it is mostly useless in any windy environment (outside; car with a/c on) as the FS200 is ***extremely*** sensitive to wind.

I also have a Moto HS810 headset paired with the Jabra dongle-thingy. This setup works great..the HS810 resist wind-induced distortion very well and is able to pick up my voice well as the mic is *pointed* toward my big head vs forward as the FS200. Side note, the HS810 shines when paired with the v600.

Kind of long winded I know, -Michael.

Thanks Mjohns, I have two more questions. Where can I find the adaptor for mio8390-like plug to standard 2.5mm plug, and does Jabra sell the dongle-thingy seperately(without headset).

Jabra does sell the adapter without the FS headset. It's just under $60 from their website..haven't seen it anywhere else. Don't have any specific sites for the 2.5mm adaptor..just remember seeing them usually for the SPV and mostly sold for pounds (UK) and euros :D .

http://www.pc-mobile.net/ has an SPV adaptor but it may not support the answer/end headset function..would be okay for using with a basic wired headset.
