Guest elphantasmo Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 i was in my local orange shop the other day (i won't say which in case i get someone into trouble) talking to the manager. i commented on the fact that i had full service on my MPX200 and that it was unusual. the manager told me that this is because every orange shop has a signal booster. where the hell do i get one of these proper signal boosters? all i can find by searching the net is those crappy little stick on bits of metal that don't work. i just want something to make my phone work in my house and at work.... it's getting to the point that i'm wondering why i have a mobile phone.....
Guest kyrkesmith Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 Yeah, I can see why they do that. They'd never sell any MPx200s otherwise, everyone would be being shown them by the "trainer", and there'd be no reception. I'd be interested to know, but I'd guess they're something like those booster masts they're putting around the place to improve capacity. Maybe a bit of an overkill to install in your own home?
Guest IAmGavinWilson Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 Hiya, First posting since joining the forum, so hope this works :D Indoor signal boosters are available from Orange, TTFN, Gav :D

Guest gadget007 Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Hiya, Indoor signal boosters are available from Orange, does anyone know if these Orange signal boosters work with SPV C500's? its a little hard to tell from the picture, but does it actually plug in to the phone? Can anyone recommend an independant signal booster that all mobiles in the house can use so that it's not brand dependent? ie my C500 and my missus's Nokia? just moved flats and the coverage is terrible, in fact i struggle to use the word 'coverage'. My girlfriend works a couple streets over and has terrible coverage there too so it's obvious its a dead spot area?! cheers.
Guest martin Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 I don't think there are any boosters apart from that one supplied by Orange but a booster wouldn't help you help you in a black spot area anyway. Do you ever see 3 to 4 signal bars showing on the phone or are the bars low 100% of the time ?
Guest gadget007 Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 here at work now I am getting 5 bars, out & about i usually get atleast 3 - 4 bars, so its not a phone issue. We can get 1 bar out the front and back doors, and 1 bar hard up against the windows, so there is a weeee bit of coverage flying about outside the house, just not inside. down the garden we get 3 bars.
Guest elphantasmo Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 at work it fluctuates between 1 bar and no signal, but orange have done something there as there is now about 3 bars worth of signal outside (used to be full inside) i now know this not to be a problem with the phone as other people experince the same. at home however is a bit different, i get 1-2 bars of signal if i stand up upstairs or if i go to the bottom of the garden and wave my phone in the air. other handsets have marginally improved reception, but certainly no sign of a gprs signal. as anyone out there with an mpx200 knows, you need at least 2 bars of signal to send texts or make a call.... i was in london the other week and was most surprised to have full signal and a little G for gprs at the top of the screen. i now have orange admitting network problems and refunding my line rental each month.... only 8 months to go and i can move to a network that actually has coverage....
