Guest yoos Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 Anyone know of a good free program to convert wav files to midi files and where the program can be located? Thanks!
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 Now you're talkin' :D This isn't free exactly but there's a demo you can try. MIDI ringtones from MP3 / WAV are my holy grail and I did once get this to work. Having changed PCs though something went wrong and I'd therefore be delighted if you would share your experiences of doing conversions. Digital Ear : www.digital-ear.com
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 BTW : this is my latest project - an old acid house tune :DHot Hands short.zip
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 You still with me on this, Yoos ? Here are some more converters but I'm losing hope of getting the sounds I'm after :D http://www.intelliscore.net/ http://www.intelliscore.net/
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Problem with converting wav to midi (as i'm sure you've found out) is midi is a discrete signal built from an array of specific instruments at specific levels. wav's are (comparatively) continuous and the software you use have to try and "guess" what instruments and notes and chords to use from a mess of a sine wave, hence the reason you're probably getting such interesting results :D What's probably easier is trying to get tabs or scores of the music you want and pumping them into a midi composer. I've used Noteworthy (google for it) loads in the past.
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Yes, I had that explained to me in the pub last night, and as you say, I was already working it out myself. I'm sure I managed something playable before but that was probably in MID0 format on my old Canary. Quite likely I just dreamt it :? Thanks for the Noteworthy tip. I'll give it a go but, as you and others keep telling me, the WAV & WMA route is the best :D Good luck Yoos :D
