Guest Razor29 Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 ALL you programers i dont know how to program but i have an idea their is a freeware pc game called soldat its a cool death match game 2d/3d its like taking a fps and turning it to 2d movment with nice really easy 3d graphics that the spv or any smartphone can run please see what you programers can do with this this could be like the best smartphone game heres a link to the pc version on gamespot http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/soldat/readers.html its an onlie game to but it could be great offline on smartphone (and online or via ir or bluetooth) please tell me what you think d/l the game see it make it for smartphone! (: oo and at first sight it might look weird but its one of the most addictive games iv ever played
Guest gravity Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 Basically a sidescroller done in 3d. I'm currently working on something similar. 3d world but with an isometric view, also capture the flag. I'm not a real programmer yet, just learning as I go.
Guest Razor29 Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 dude its not exactly that its so addictive look for the game in yahoo play it its fun as hell man i just think it wont be so hard to port to smartphones
Guest agent.m Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 sounds like a good idea but with better graphics???? and different name :D
Guest Razor29 Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 yeah we need someone like midnight or anyother big programers to check out the idea it could be amazing (even more if they put online to (: )
Guest midnight Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 if yer gonna go for a deathmatch type game then surely top view is best, no need for any whacky gun aiming then as its point and shoot, much better for handhelds. I wouldnt have time to work on this, got Kumite to finish and then start another game (which we have part designed)
Guest Razor29 Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 i agree but if someone will start this project make it 3d this phone needs more 3d games it can do 3d and 3d is good (just see yeti demo god damn) someone make it the way midnight said
Guest midnight Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 i really wouldnt bother with 3d..... yet, in fact i think yeti is a good case for not doing 3d, it doesnt exactly play well to be honest, the problem with 3d is they need analog controls (racing games you can get away with just about), but anyone who's played on the ngage will testify that the 2d games actually play much better than the 3d games, and are much more fun to play (i'd actually argue the best playing games ever are actually 2d games, not 3d games, look at Turrican, there is no way that would work in 3D, they tried it and never released it). We've barely scratched the surface of what can be done with 2d, why run before you can walk :D
Guest gravity Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 3d isn't a factor as long as the controls are simple enough
Guest Razor29 Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 if you saw the game soldat you understand what i men when i say 3d its like making rocket elite 3d its 3d /2d something that the smartphone can run easaly it has a special look to it thats why i said 3d
Guest Razor29 Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 you know what your right aslong as its a fast pace 2d death match style game it will be cool but someone pick this idea up go go develop (:
Guest Razor29 Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 another uqestion is it really hard to program for smathpone is their totorials program sdk's maybe ill try to pick this up
Guest Stomski Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 If you don't have any Win32 programming experience, SP may be tricky. I'd do some programming for the desktop first...
Guest Razor29 Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 nvm then someone else program it ill be the cheer leader go go go cool ! YEAH!!!
Guest Stomski Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 I'm not saying give up on programming altogether! Write a simple game for the desktop that you'd like to see on smartphone and then try and port it :D If you keep in mind the UI and not to use things like MFC you'll be onto a winner.
Guest machieru Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 nice idea but it wont happen with those small players in a big screen... just check the size of your smartphone... then make that picture of that game of yours smaller and stuff it into your smartphone screen... ehum tada: lets try to aim!!! aaaaaaargh :D SPRAYING TIME TRRRRRRRRRRRR... erm sorry got carried away...
