Textbox order

I've got 4 textboxes, arranged one above the other, and I've set the focus to the top textbox. When I press down on the joystick the cursor moves to the textbox above, and pressing up moves the cursor to the textbox below.

I must be missing something really simple? :?

Check the order in which the textboxes are initialized.

I dont pretend to understand, but I think its to do with the order in which the textboxes are created and drawn to the form which seems to dictates tab order.
