Guest aedmunds Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 Hi Guys Any light shed on this would be great ... Phone sometimes gets locked into headset mode and i have to put up with it for a couple of weeks at a time ... pain in the a**e. Anyway, read up on it and noticed someone suggested blowing into the hole ... so after laughing hideously, i tried it ... and low and behold, straight back to Normal profile. Wow ... excellent i thought. However, after a few weeks of this ... i'm now experiencing a new problem. The phone is now switching between Normal and Headset mode intermittently every few minutes ... and hence lighting up the screen each time it does it ... so instead of my battery lasting a good day at the most ... its now lasting 3 hours!! This is not funny anymore. Obviously I want to get rid of it asap ... but i can't send it off for repair, cos i don't have a replacement, and its out of warranty (and contract). Plus i don't want to get an MPX200 ... i'd rather wait and get an MPX220 ..... SO COME ON ORANGE ... release the bl**dy thing ... i'm getting fed up with my calls constantly slipping in and out of headset mode!! Laters André
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 Unfortunately this is not an new version of the problem, the fault is a hardware fault and any of the fixes listed (apart from sending it for repair) will only be a temporary fix :D
Guest squall Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 i suppose you could open the phone and disconnect the socket, that would stop the switching back and fourth a believe. Alternitivly you could maybe fit a new port from a scrap phone. I had a similar problem as in a faulty phone which was out of contract and had no insurance. Orange cant do anything - i tried very hard to make them:P
Guest marc_mascardo Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 wow so this problem is really old! well my problem is kinda different coz mine switches from normal to car profile and back again every now and then! when i put a headset its fine but when i remove the headset it goes to normal then car profile again! and my battery life is so short now! any fixes for this? i tried blowing in the hole and sticking a screwdriver in but... still no use!
Guest squall Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 there can be a few triggers to the car profile. The headset is one, but the socket at the bottom (where the charger goes) also has a car profile trigger. Just a thought but if something is shorting out then that could be why battery life is so short perhaps? Have a look on the socket for signs of damage etc. If it is the headset socket then theres not a great deal you can do im afraid
Guest marc_mascardo Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 well... i opened my phone and tried tinkering with the headset socket in an effort to fix the prob... and i f*ck*d up the phone even more! now it is stuck in the headset mode... indefinitely... *sniff* now i'm screwed!
