Guest Kushan Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Ok, I'm sorry for being a TOTAL n00b here, but it's actually rather hard finding information on this... I have several (thousand) midi files I'd like to use as ringtones, and I know they work ok, but I'm wondering where I can put them on my SPV E200. I tried the windows folder, and although it works, as soon as you switch the phone off and on, it automatically deletes them, I tried putting them in a folder called "sounds" in my storage folder as the handbook suggests, but then the phone doesn't list them in the sound configuration... Do I have to live with constantly disappearing tones or am I doing something wrong here?
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Welcome to the site mate. :D On the phone itself, put them in Storage Application Data Sounds. The E200 will also pick them up from the storage card if they're not in a folder, or possibly in Storage Card My Documents. Good to hear of another MIDI-lover !
Guest aqr505 Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 I have a Orange SPV, and I'm using wav files as ringing tones. For this I used a small programme I downloaded from modaco. (sorry...can't remember the name, try to search for it). This programme allows you to change the normal profile of the phone, so that you can change the ringing tone for call, sms, etc... Good luck..!!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 The reason you cannot put them in the main Windows folder is that this folder gets rewritten on every start up.
Guest squall Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 jayo personalizer i suspect http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=9765...&highlight=jeyo

Guest Dibit Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Can i slightly change topic here and ask, is it possible to use mp3's as ringtones? Ifso what limitations are there and where do I put them? Cheers Phil :D
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 In general, no, you can't use MP3s as ringtones although this may be possible on Mitacs (?) or Samsings (?) You have to convert them to .wav or .wma
Guest Dibit Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Thanks Stu, I have tried several times to get it to play them, it just seems strange that it can play the mp3 in media player but cant use them as ringtones. Thanks again Phil P.s. Just joined the forum today, and already sorted out two of my major niggles, great forum!
