Guest Dorsai Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Hi, I bought an SPV E100 from a friend about 4weeks ago. I managed to get it app & network unlocked. It is now running on Vodafone UK PAYG. My problem started this morning when I couldn't get a signal on my phone. It actually says 'no service' and has a white circle with a line through it where the signal bars should be. What I have tried is: 1)Call Vodafone to check if there was a problem. ---They say there are no issues where I live. 2)Hard Reset. ---Works for a few minutes then goes back to no signal bars and finally 'no service' message. 3)Rebooting. ---Tried numerous times but never any success. E100 Details. ---------------- -Win Smartphone 2002 V 3.0 (build 13258) -Radio Version 2.01.00 -Operator 1.6.1.10 -Manufacturer 1.6.1.10 -Microsoft 3.0.13258.0 -Language 1.6.1.10 -File System 3.0.13258.0 ================= I have searched the forums for this problem and I have tried any fixes that I could find but nothing works. If any one has any ideas on how to go about resolving this it would be greatly appreciated. :?: Thanks in advance for any and all help and advice.
Guest martin Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Go to Settings-Telephony-Networks and then Menu-Select a network. Does the phone find ANY networks ? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Dorsai Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Hi martin, Thx for the reply. yes it finds 4 Networks: Vodafone T-Mobile UK Orange O2 - UK
Guest martin Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 What happens when you select Vodafone from the search. Can you access the network ? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Dorsai Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 It waits with the msg: ------------- Sending settings to the network...... ------------- THen gives the error: ------------------------ ERROR Unable to save settings. Verify your network settings and that they are supported by your carrier. ------------------------ Then on the welcome screen it just waits, 'searching.....' for coverage. :?:
Guest martin Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 I suspect it's a network fault. The phone is finding a broadcast signal from your local Vodafone site so it just seems to be a problem with network access. I would either try a SIM from another network in the SPV or try the Vodafone SIM in another phone. Hopefully this will prove the fault to Vodafone and you can chase it up with customer services again
Guest Dorsai Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Thx martin, I have tried the sim in an old Motorola and I get full strength signal with it :?:
Guest martin Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Ahh in that case try re-loading the E100 software update on the phone. You can get it from the Orange website. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Dorsai Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Thx martin, I'll give that a go and post how I get on. Thx for all the help. It's much appreciated.
Guest Dorsai Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 I've had a search around this forum, orange site and the 'net and I can't find the latest software update for the SPV. Anyone got a link to this for download???
Guest martin Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Here it is Dorsai http://web.orange.co.uk/yourphone/spv/prom...E100_ROMupgrade Fingers crossed :D
Guest Dorsai Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 CHeers Martin, That seems to have done the trick. Installed last night and it seemed to work. Rebooted a couple of times and still worked. Switched on this morning and STILL working. :D Many thanks for taking the time to help Martin. :D
Guest rex_4321 Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Hi Dorsai, I noticed you are a UK Vodafone PAYG user. Have you got your phone setup to use the dial-up WAP service ? The settings suggested by this forum don't seem to work. I don't have a GPRS account with my Vodafone PAYG. Is this possible ? Best regards.
Guest rex_4321 Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 I called Vodafone Cust Serv UK. They have 'provisioned' my PAYG Sim to enable me to use GPRS. I'll have a go with the e200 'settings' again when its enabled (up to 48hrs they said). They were not very clear about the costs (browsing is a minimal cost apparently) would be charged more for specific services (tones, game downloads etc) Has anyone anymore specific information on the charges ?
