I was going to buy the Beastie Boys new one as a ringtone yesterday, which was well prominent on the website, but when I went to Orange World to find it on my phone it was nowhere

Orange promise a lot of things they can't deliver.

can music be put onto the storage card from pc audio files for remixing i.e. what format are the music files?

Guest Disco Stu

The song arrives in .fpy format and the ringtones are saved as wavs.

well, i got fireplayer and downloaded a few songs. not a bad little program but no way the songs are worth £3.50. lucky orange knocking money off my bill now or i'd be fuming.

where does it store the wav file, cos i cant find that, only the .fpy

Anywhere you can get the songs free to remix?

It saves the WAV files in Storage CardMy DocumentMy Sounds where it can be played in Sound Manager. You may have to move it to the Storage card directory where you keep your ringtones.

From what I've read the program and songs are only available through Orange so I don't think you'll find them on the internet.

I think I know what npw is saying.

I'm now going to get mixer / sampler software and do my own.

Orange is charging too much for the downloads and you just know this could be so much better.

The musician in me has been awaken 8)

found the wav file, but the phone actually stores them in the windows directory of the phone.

Which ?

Mobile Device Windows or Mobile Device Storage Windows ?

Mine get saved in Storage Application Data Sounds.

Surely we'd lose them otherwise

Posted

well i'm using a classic spv (until c500 comes out :D ) so it stores them in windows directory, not the storage card. Therefore I found when I turned my phone off and on it wiped the wav file.

I fixed this by changing fireplayer.xml in the fireplayer directory to save the ringtones to wherever I wanted

So could you change the xml to make it save the full length of the composition ?

I don't have the slightest clue about xml but would be tempted to edit Fireplayer for this.

Posted

i dont know that much really. The xml only appears to set how the program is laid out and the storage directories for saving mixes and ringtones
