Guest Dornier Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Hi Everyone, I'm running an O2 Xphone with the original rom (ROM update versions: 1.7.10.2, manufacturer version 1.7.10.2, radio version 1.10.00) that came with the phone. What is the most successful way of upgrading to the new iMate Smartphone2 rom version 1.10.15.2? I really want the bluetooth upgrade to use Mapopolis and would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance, GP
Guest ex_zero Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 I think we may have to downgrade to greek ROM, using florins fixed.exe, and then upgrade to the i-mate ROM, again using florins fixed.exe.... but, we may be able to skip and go to the i-mate ROM by using florins fix.... can anyone comment on this?
Guest hardcore Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 First check the version of your bootloader (the 3-coloured screen). If the bootloader version is LOWER THAN 1.07.xx... then do it this way: Use the Greek Qtek ROM updater. Replace the Qtek NK.nbk file with the file from the new imate ROM. Run the Greek Qtek updater... it should work.
Guest hy_edl048 Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 My Xphone ROM was 1.7.xxx (original ROM from Xphone when I bought it), now I'm using ROM 1.10.15.2 from i-mate. Before I'm using ROM 1.10.15.2, I used Swedish Qtek8080 ROM 1.9.xxx. There was no problem when I updated ROM from 1.7.xxx to 1.9.xxx, just download from Swedish Qtek, then install it. Very simple, no trick at all. But I found the problem when I want to updated my 1.9.xxx to 1.10.15.2. I used the old way, same with I updated to 1.9.xxx, always failed... I tried almost 1 week, and finally I success to update my ROM. This is my step: 1. Download ROM 1.10.xxx from imate 2. Replace your new VoUpgradeUt from ROM 1.10.xxx with your old VoUpgradeUt from Swedish ROM 1.9.xxx. 3. Back up your Smartphone 4. Remove all card from the phone, SIM Card incl SD Card 5. Connect to PC 6. Shotdown Xphone, turn of wcescomm.exe at your PC 7. Turn on your Xphone go to Bootloader. 8. Run VoUpgradeUt with new nk.nbf file from imate 1.10.xxx It work for me Have a nice try BTW, have you ever try to update directly from 1.7.xxx to 1.10.15.2 before???
Guest Dornier Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Hi Everyone, I'm running an Xphone with Bootloader 1.03 doc. Will the above methods work? Where do I get the greek ROM? Thanks, George
Guest ralphdorr Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Where can I get florins fixed.exe? I have O2 RoM with 1.04 doc bootloader. I get Error 117 whatever I try.

Guest prompt Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 And this!!! When I press the button below,,, I stopped ThankzFinished.JPG
Guest hy_edl048 Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 I think time for update your ROM just 30 to 45 minutes even it said 5 minutes at your PC when your update your ROM... When I updated my Xphone, it didn't show like that, everything in English language and Latin fonts...., maybe it shows in Greek font and your PC didn't recognized that font, just like when you receive e-mail with chinese font, all you see just computer symbols... Guest Dornier Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Hi Everyone, I successfully upgraded from the original O2 Xphone rom to Imate's new rom (1.10.15.2). The phone battery life is greatly improved. Even with the SD card installed, the battery is showing half life with several phone calls, bluetooth headset usage with one long call, and several minutes of GPRS web surfing. The phone was disconnected from it's charger at 830 AM and it's now 10:54PM still showing half battery life. Here's the short version of my upgrading experience: 1) I ran the Imate software upgrade, then selected to unpack the files to a specific folder 2) Ran the Qtek 1.9.14.1 updater, but it didn't give me the option to unpack the files to a folder. I had to go into the Windows/Temp folder to copy all of the Qtek files while the Qtek updater was running. I copied the files to a new folder and replaced the Qtek nk.nbf with the Imate one 3) Disabled Activesync via ALT CTRL DEL. The file to stop is called wcescomm.exe 4) Plugged in phone to the USB cable. I got an error from Windows XP at this point. The device installation had a problem, etc. I ran the Qtek updater, but it didn't find the phone. I unplugged the phone then plugged it back in and the second time Windows XP reported that the new hardware was found and ready to use 5) Ran the Qtek updater again and this time it found the phone. I started the process and it took over 20 minutes to update. By the way, eventhough I used the Qtek updater, it reported that the phone would be updated with the IMATE rom. Unlike the previous post, the Qtek updater screens were in english and completely readable. The phone also displayed the progress of the update on its screen. 6) When the updater reached 100%, the phone rebooted and started right up. It took awhile to boot up the first time, so don't get worried if it takes awhile. When the phone boots up, it displays an IMATE screen. 7) So am I happy I did this? Yes! The battery life and the ability to have an SD card installed is worth it. I now have to get a new bluetooth GPS since my NAVMAN uses letters versus numbers. By the way, the phone was sim and application unlocked, and remained that way after the update. Hope this helps everyone....GP
Guest techiezee Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 i get stuck at 10%. then the updating fails: ERROR 113: UPDATE ERROR. any tips? i did all sorts of combination. i always get the ERROR 117 and if all goes well and the update begins i get stuck at 10%.. i have combined orange(2.6.5.3) i-mate(1.10.15.2) qtek(1.9.14.1) together with the florins fixed.exe.. i am so lost. now i can't use my phone for 2 days already. i am using an O2 xphone. need help badly...
Guest qk9459 Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Hi All, re Dornier's post above...just need to add some additional steps for those who get stuck. Mine was an Xphone (1.7.10..), just managed to upgrade to the Imate rom.. I tried all the steps mentioned, but i just kept getting the error 117 message..but this morning, 1. I synced my phone as normal 2. Removed the SD card 3. Turned of the phone and started in bootloader mode (note- this is while the phone is still connected to PC. Once u get the "press any key message", push down the joystick, u sud get the tricolor screen (my version as 1.03 if anyone is interested) and USB at the bottom left of the phone 4. Ran the Vo util , and voila it worked..it took about 10 minutes in all.. one thing that i didnt do was to kill activesync..not saying that this might work for all, but an alternative to try if u get stuck .. cheers
