Guest michael2427 Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 I can get ringtones(midi) from nokia mobile phones but i can't seem to play them is there any programs, or is there any way of playing them? Thanks!
Guest abejan Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Hi! On my Qtek 8080 they can be played with the Photo Album application. The mid extension is also associated with this application, so I can launch midi files from any file explorer. If you don't have this application on your phone, you can place the midi file in StorageApplicaton DataSounds. You can then play the file by "previewing" the file from StartSettingsSounds, select any event, and then pick you midi file from the list of available sounds. Btw, this will only work on HTC Voyager phones (8080, E200....) The previous models doesn't support GM properly. abejan
Guest michael2427 Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 i have a Qtek 7070 so i can't play these ringtones?
Guest abejan Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Hi again, I used to own a 7070 before, and it couldn't play midi-files properly. The 7070 has some kind of support for midi, but I has only 3 (or so) sound channels, and no support for General Midi sound set. I think it could be possible to convert midi files into a format that is playable on the 7070 using a midi editor program. But it would be too much work and the result would be bad, I guess. One easy way around would be to use your PC to play the midi files through your sound card and convert the files to wav-format. Takes a bit more space but the sound would be very good! abejan
Guest loratio Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 hi! i did the conversion of midi files to mid0 (the format supported by the first smart phones) and the results were to say the least terrible. stick to wav files :-) Posted from my SmartPhone!
