Guest bassbox Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 hey everyone, the other night i plugged my mio 8380 into the car charger. the red light went on, everything was normal and fully charged to give the green light signal. i never charged it until last night when i tried to plug in my normal home charger in, and it wont charge. i think the car charger might have blown something in the phone. is this the case? could anybody please tell me how i should go around to fixing this as there are no mio dealers in my area. thanks guys
Guest skyline_gtr Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 try to unplug the connector and reconnect a few times if that doesnt help then push the connector in with a LITTLE force that happens to my phone sometimes too... but once the phone starts charging....dont touch it... this phone has a bad design for charging i guess... or it's just slow
Guest bassbox Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 i tried this but nothing is still working. ah well i think it's going to the rubbish tip :D.. wat can we do...
Guest the bishop Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I don't know, but I am having a similar issue with my 8390 -- except that it charges fully, but the phone locks up and won't do anything on boot up.
Guest skyline_gtr Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 dont trash it yet~ if you dont want it give it to me...hehe anyways...you can buy one of those chargers that can charge whatever battery you have.... i got 1 of those (29$ HKD) and use it for my 2nd 8380 battery but the problem is...does your phone still turn on?Cam0012.jpgCam0014.jpgCam0013.jpg
Guest bassbox Posted June 23, 2004 Report Posted June 23, 2004 yeh the phone turns on perfectly just the charge function isnt working. i am in sydney, australia... i dont think there's such a thing that can charge any type of battery here. il keep it as it is for now i might find something or someone that can fix it for me
Guest skyline_gtr Posted June 23, 2004 Report Posted June 23, 2004 well alternative solution: if you are into r/c cars then you can use those chargers to charge your battery.....
Guest bassbox Posted June 23, 2004 Report Posted June 23, 2004 yeh im thinking about using another battery recharger. but the batter has 4 contacts (2neg and 2pos).. if i use a negative wire, split it into two and connect them to the negative terminals, and do the same to the positive terminals, i shouldnt wreck the battery will i?
Guest skyline_gtr Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 the two contacts in the middle are useless they dont do anything get a voltmeter and do some measuring this what i got from my voltmeter... positive on left contact and negative on right contact gives me -3.84v if i switch them it gives me 3.84v figure that out
