Guest eggedd2k Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 my Orange SPV was working fine up until this morning when I tried to charge it - I plugged the phone into the cradle (with the charger plugged in) but it won't charge - the indicator light is stil flashing in the normal way rather than staying on - the main display doesn't say charging either. I've tried a friends battery, no difference and i've tried a friends phone (identical) with my cradle and separate charging adapter. no difference. has anyone every had this or is it a dead phone??
Guest squall Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 Firstly its nothing to do with the battery, the led would go green when the electricity is connected regardless if theres a battery in or not. This sounds like a fault with your cradle or your phone, as you have tried a second charger. Check the cradle for damage/ broken connectors etc. Wipe all dust / dirt of the cradle and try again. Check the phone's docking socket for unevenly spaced pins, each pin should be the same distance apart as the others, if not then it means you have a missing / bent pin - something that could stop charging. Again remove all dust etc etc. Try charging the phone without the cradle. Ie connect the charger to the phone with the adaptor provided in the original box.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 There is a bug with the original SPV where if you let the battery get too low the charger circuit will not recognise that charger has been plugged in. Remove the charger then unplug the battery. Replace the battery plug in the charger and then power on the phone.
Guest T0MA Posted June 23, 2004 Report Posted June 23, 2004 I have the same problem. When I do this trick, I power on the phone and it charges for 5 seconds (yellow LED) and then the green LED starts to blink.
