Firmware 1.10.15.2 - Which *genuine* improvements

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

can anyone already upgraded to 1.10.15.2 tell me specifically if the following "bugs" / inefficiencies have been fixed now:

1. Speaker volume on incoming calls very low

2. Keylock not working if call comes in (especially annoying when device in holster... -> very bad bug !)

3. Framerate of Videoclips taken with phone and the sound is very poor

4. Device frequently crashes, especially when lying on or next to metal surfaces

5. Battery power very poor

6. WAP only working if link is invoked by wsp:// (often this is not possible)

My current version is 1.7.10.4 and all the described bugs/inefficiencies are there.

Surprisingly the version I had before (guess a 1.7.x.x) didn't show 1., 3. and 4 (but 2., 5 and 6). [My current version just brought Bluetooth and SMS Reception report to be set on].

Summarizing:

Can anyone please tell me if 1.-6. are still present in Firmware 1.10.15.2 ???

Thanks so much

Regards

Gerhard

P.S.

The reported "feature list" here in this group, possibly from some vendor site, doesn't tell me too much. If these are really all "improvements" and 1-6 not fixed this would be very poor.

So far I can only comment on the battery life and YES, it has DEFINITELY improved, BUT it didn't seem to improve when I upgraded straight away... I did the following as others have suggested on here with other carriers ROM's and after I did this the battery power is WAY better (and I've never seen the SD bug... never saw it in the older I-Mate ROM I had either)

- Did a clear storage from the accessories folder

- Did a hard reset via the bootloader

- Upgraded

- Did another hard reset via the bootloader

Why is this considered a bug:

2. Keylock not working if call comes in (especially annoying when device in holster... -> very bad bug !)

Unless I don't understand what you're trying to say, the point of the keylock deactivating when the phone receives a call is so that you can simply pick it up and answer it without having to fumble and unlock it (particularly if you've already taken ages to get it out and the person calling is probably thinking of hanging up...). It automatically reactivates wen the call finishes or when the call is left unanswered. I have never seen another phone where this doesn't occur and requires the user to unlock the phone before answering.

Did you mean that you did "clear storage" and "hard reset" prior to upgrade (using original ROM) and then do a hard reset again after upgrading?

In Firmware 1.10.15.2 all your points are resolved, specially the battery life, and audio in incoming calls. The phone respond more quicker, and no Crashes. I´ve updated 8 days ago and what i can say is that is very, very good, stable and quicker. T9 works also perfectly

Here's what I noticed about 1.10.15.2

1) battery DEFINITELY improved. After some bluetoothing, smsing, fussing around, and 9hours of standby its still at 80% and battery monitor (beersoft) reports 52hrs of standby remaining.

2) SD media bug seems to be fixed, I don't have to reinsert the card anymore.

3) The built in speaker is definitely louder! Didn't try earpiece yet.

Hope this helps.

PS: hasn't crashed yet =)

Has anyone noticed problems with the video capture? The frame rates are terrible when recording videos with sound. It's crippled on my phone. I've resetted and reupgraded it and the problem persists. I used to get better video capture with my original Xphone ROM. I also can't attach video files (.3gp, .mp4) in the MMS application, unlike the Qtek ROM.

You can still attach video files in the MMS application... in the menu select "Select Video"... ta-da.

Battery life, standby time seems to have improved 2 to 3 times. No kidding.

Voice call volume is louder for sure... headset and spaker.

Speakerphone mode, now the other party can hear you better.

Lots of improvements...

Thanks guys for your responses !

Looks promising...

I think I shall dare it (Have - as I said - a Qtek8080 with firmware 1.7.10.4; flashed from a previous version).

@Samuel337:

I've really had many phones in the past. The Keylock function worked on every of them.

On the Qtek8080 however it doesn't.

Following scenario:

Handset is in original Orange holster from Covertec (btw: one of the finest holsters I've ever had with a handset), keylock is invoked and a call comes in.

When taking out the handset from the holster it is inevitable to touch a key or move the nipple. And the keylock should be designed to prevent the handset from responding to randomly touching a key.

However the Qtek moves into some "undefined" state in this situation: you can hear a noise as if someone has received the call but isn't speaking and nothing more happens. (The calling party says it sounded like someone had rejected the call.)

This is definitely a BUG, and a very serious one.

Keylock however works properly when no call comes in. Should I really be satisfied with this ? ;-)

I definitely agree this is a BUG. I have the exact same issue as described in the link below. That would have been awesome if they fixed this since I have been caught in a few embarassing situations...

I'm still pretty happy with the update though... Especially the battery power savings!

Thanks for the tip. I missed that. Btw, did anyone notice the video recorder problem? I mean the frame rate is bad.

I now understand your issue more clearly -

I guess the problem only occurs when you use a holster instead of a case, but maybe what you're after is a option to turn off the 'any key answer' function. I dunno what phones you used, but AFAIK my Nokia 8210, Siemens SL45 all answer the phone when any key is pressed during keylock - however, there is an option to turn this off by disabling the any key answer function.
